(MGN) is a series of graphic novel trade paperbacks published from 1982 to 1993 by Marvel Comics in an attempt to emulate European-style graphic novels. They are characterized by big-name authors and artists, complete standalone stories, 8.5 x 11 inch dimensions and an emphasis on superheroes. They are also numbered in sequence--despite the fact that none of the books were connected in any way but a blanket title--but for the first twenty issues only, through 1985. Marvel released many other stories in the same format that are considered unnumbered parts of the series according to the Official Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide. Overstreet continued counting beyond the original "official" numbering, following a Marvel-published list of graphic novels. When the list stopped being published, Overstreet stopped trying to number the issues, halting at issue 38, although they list 29 more issues published from 1983 through 1991, and the list is known not to include every graphic novel from this period. This lack of numbering for the rest made it so difficult to come up with a definitive list in chronological ordinal sequence, until Bob Rozakis at comicsbulletin.com came up with one in 2003. The first story (the second Marvel graphic novel produced) is by Jim Starlin, released in April of 1982. The last numbered graphic novel, #20, is written by J. M. DeMatteis and drawn by Mark Badger.

Since the 1970s, P. Craig Russell (Murder Mysteries, The Ring of the Nibelung) has created some of the most sophisticated and lavishly drawn stories ever to hit comics shops. Dark Horse is proud to present a rare sampling of the work spread over his long career, including early masterpieces like "Dance on the Razor's Edge" and "The Starship Remembrance," along with more recent adaptations of H.P. Lovecraft's "From Beyond" and O. Henry's "Gift of the Magi." If you're a lover of fine illustration and masterful storytelling, these long out-of-print stories are an essential addition to your comics collection.

Remembered as the father of modern horror, H.P. Lovecraft is best known for tales of terror, cosmic abominations and especially his most famous creation, the dreaded Cthulhu! Few realize, however, the true creative breadth and depth spanned by Lovecraft, who penned stories of horror but also of fantasy, science fiction and even humor. Within this Mythos series, writer Brandon Barrows and artist Hugo Petrus go beyond tentacles and evil gods to explore the rare corners and the myriad worlds created by H.P. Lovecraft! This issue: "Pickman's Model" - Richard Pickman, an artist of notoriously-ghastly works so horrifying that he's been ostracized from Boston's artistic society, knows the anatomy of fear better than anyone else alive - but how? "The Strange High House in the Mist" - Thomas Olney, a jaded philosopher, has a obsession: the strange, mist-shrouded house on the cliffs above Kingsport. When he can stand his curiosity no longer, he sets out to visit the house.

Abe Sapien: The Drowning is the story of _Hellboy_ and _B.P.R.D._ mainstay Abe Sapien's first solo adventure. A century ago, paranormal investigator Edward Grey fought and destroyed a powerful warlock off the island of Saint-Sébastien. In the early 1980s, the B.P.R.D.'s newest agent was sent to retrieve the warlock's remains. But Abe Sapien is ill prepared for the supernatural forces that block his way. Jason Shawn Alexander is one of my favourite new artists. The man has got soul, and he pours it right into his art. Silver Bullet Comics **Abe Sapien's first solo series!**
