In 1952, 12 young and promising Italian musicians, mainly Roman and mostly graduates of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, got together 'inter pares' to create a unique chamber orchestra comprising six violas, two cellos, one double bass and one harpsichord. At present days, I Musici are regular guests at the most important international festivals and they carry out an intense concert activity in prestigious theatres and concert halls. On "Serenata Italiana" I Musici take you on a journey of the Italian serenade, with music by Rossini, Respighi, Bossi, and film composer Nino Rota. The duo of Filippo Arlia and Cesare Chiacchiaretta, pays tribute to Argentinian composer, bandoneon player, and arranger Astor Piazzolla with these twelve tracks. For "Duettango" they are joined by Fernando Suarez Paz on the violin, and his daughter Cecilia on vocals. Piazzolla revolutionized the traditional tango into a new style termed "nuevo tango", incorporating elements from jazz and classical music.

This album features one of the most beautiful sacred compositions in the history of music. In this recording 2 great singers are protagonists: Mariella Devia and Francesca Provvisionato, accompanied Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana masterfully directed by Daniele Callegari. This is pure analogue recording. Giulio Cesare Ricci for this recording did not choose a church but the intriguing acoustics of the Lauro Rossi Theater in Macerata. He used only 2 sets of microphones, 2 Neumann M49 & 2 Neumann U47s. The mastering is by Ricci using the Signoricci system, entirely analogue & tube. The master was made by transferring the analogue master recorded with the Nagra 4s 15ips, 1/4 inch 2 tracks to DSD. No editing. All the tracks on this record are heard as they were performed.

Having also established himself as a successful conductor, chamber musician, and teacher, Accardo may be considered one of the most accomplished and influential musicians of his generation. This album is released in celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the composer Giovanni Pergolesi. I Musici performs compositional works by Francesco Geminiani, Giovanni Pergolesi, Antonio Vivaldi and Francesco Durante. I Musici was formed in 1952 by twelve young and promising Italian musicians, mainly Roman and mostly graduates of the at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome. They chose the simple, yet nice name I Musici and they deliberately decided to shape the ensemble without a conductor.

The collection "The Arches of the Palazzo Comunale " of Cremona has been enriched by a third violin made by Antonio Stradivari ,one of the most valuable pieces of violin making World : " The Vesuvius in 1727 ". Purchased by a British governor which also took him to India , the Vesuvius came into possession of the violinist Jan Hambourg , who kept it until his death (1947 ) giving rise to a popular trio with his brothers Mark ( pianist ) and Boris ( cellist ) .
