RZA, Entertainment One, and 36 Chambers Alc have announced a new album, Wu-Tang: The Saga Continues (out October 13). It’s the first release from 36 Chambers Alc, which is RZA and Mustafa Shaikh’s lifestyle company. According to a press release, the album is executive produced by RZA and “crafted by” DJ Mathematics. As the title suggests, it also features Wu-Tang Clan members.
Saga's 1995 release sets a turning point in the band's sound. It's the middle 90s with grunge and alternative metal as the main players in the world of music. By the end of the 80's Saga decided to change their sound to a more radio-friendly pop/rock sound; that endured right until 1995, when the band decided to make this extraordinary conceptual and progressive rock album.
Generation 13' is Saga's top achievement: after a not so impressive return to the music arena in the early 90s, with two albums that simply had some interesting moments, 'Generation 13' showed a band that decided to challenge itself massively…
The last great album with that Saga sound(and 1993's _Security Of Illusion_). Considering this followed the stinker _Wildest Dreams_, this album is a return to form and stands alongside other Saga greats like Heads Or Tales, Behaviour and Worlds Apart. What's most impressive on this is an aggressive Ian Crichton guitar sound…
Saga have had their share of lineup changes along the way; one of the most talked about came in late 2007, when longtime frontman Michael Sadler left the band (Rob Moratti was hired as a replacement the following year). Sadler had been Saga's lead singer from the beginning; he was around back when the Canadian prog rockers were still calling themselves Pockets (which was also the name of an Earth, Wind & Fire-ish soul-funk band that recorded three LPs for Columbia in the late '70s), and his departure came after no less than 30 years with the band. Documenting a 2007 show in Munich, Germany, Contact: Live in Munich was recorded/filmed during Sadler's final tour with Saga…
Phase one was originally released during the 1997 European Tour and was made available at the merchandise stands and through The Saga Club. It contains 3 demo-versions of songs from Images At Twilight: You're Not Alone, Mouse in a Maze and Hot to Cold. These versions are played live and are not re-mixed or dubbed. It also has 5 new previously unreleased songs. This CD was rare and highly sought after by Saga fans until the re-mastered release from 2003. Originally recorded 1978 by Paul Gross.
When Saga started out in the late '70s, their culmination of keyboards and guitar presented them with a sound that was nothing short of progressive. As the '80s approached, they began to slim down their long instrumental rock suites and play shorter songs with more lyrics, eventually taking on a sound that veered more toward a commercial feel…
10,000 days is roughly the equivalent of 30 years (OK, 27.4 years - but just go with us on this one) It s fitting then that the release of 10,000 Days helps mark Saga's 30th anniversary as a band. Sadly though it also marks the final CD that Saga will record with lead singer and band co-founder, Michael Sadler…
