In Peter Strickland's Flux Gourmet, a dysfunctional group of performance artists undertake a month-long residency at an institute devoted to culinary disciplines. Food is interrogated for it's sonic potential as the group mic-up, amplify, distort and transform what they cook in front of an audience. The noise that the characters in the film itself make is driven by food blenders, overflowing cauldrons of gurgling soup and sizzling frying pans (courtesy of The Sonic Catering Band), yet the music that soundtracks the culinary capers is engorged with aching melodies and wordless, airy vocals. Contributors include Cavern Of Anti-Matter, Jeremy Barnes and Heather Trost of A Hawk And A Hacksaw and Trost's band, Roj (formerly of Broadcast), and Nurse With Wound.

Alex Cameron has announced Miami Memories, a four-track EP out 21st August, comprising the original versions of songs that found their way onto Cameron’s acclaimed 2019 record Miami Memory (‘Miami Memory serves as a testament to what great songwriting can accomplish. It can change minds, change people.’ – Uproxx).

Recalling a childhood with Humpty Dumpty and Mother Goose by his side, his latest offering marks the next chapter in a trilogy of self-discovery; a compendium of sonically astute storytelling where nightmares and dreams meet via French yé-yé and Casio beats.

With his thirtieth birthday, and the ceremonial cap on three records and three EP's, Webb felt a sense of closure in the making of Triage. Methyl Ethel has always been a surrealist outfit - a dark and obscured expression of life set to the backdrop of dream pop hooks. But Triage is a more reflective album - one that explores the notion of coming of age, only to reference it for the snapshots and passing memories that it has become. The album was written, produced and performed by lead singer Jake Webb, recorded in Jake's home studio in West Perth and mixed at Mute Studio in London with Marta Salogni.

bar italia, the London trio of Nina Cristante, Jezmi Tarik Fehmi and Sam Fenton, release their new album Tracey Denim, on Matador Records. Tracey Denim was recorded and produced by bar italia with mixing from Marta Salogni. It features the single “Nurse!” which was released in March to acclaim, and described as “a hypnotic post-punk ballad” (The Guardian) and “narcotically arresting” (Pitchfork).
