Alone in the world, we find ourselves. Inside ourselves, we find something to share with the world. The Essential John Moods, a solo album in all senses of the word, is what Jonathan Jarzyna of Fenster found in himself during a summer spent hiking along the Iberian coast, and he now wants to share it with you. A mini-guitar on his back and a copy of GarageBand on his phone allowed Jarzyna to record songs each evening as he arrived in a new town after a long day traveling by foot.

The third and most seasoned Drugdealer album, Hiding In Plain Sight, almost didn't happen at all. Frustrated and insecure with his own singing voice prior to the pandemic, Drugdealer founder and primary songwriter Michael Collins was nearly ready to throw in the towel. While attending Mexican Summer's annual Marfa Myths festival, a chance encounter with artist and composer Annette Peacock changed his outlook. Collins says, "I told her my plight, then I played her a song, and she told me I wasn't singing high enough for my speaking voice. When I returned to LA, I started coming up with new progressions, which I'd modulate up three half steps. It forced me to find a new way to sing."

Dinner is Danish producer and singer Anders Rhedin. Following the release of his EP collection and last year’s debut LP Psychic Lovers, the now LA-based artist presents New Work on Captured Tracks. Enlisted Josh da Costa (Regal Degal, Ducktails) to produce the album with him, Dinner and Josh worked in the nighttime at off-hours at a studio in an industrial part of downtown LA. The album's songs were recorded on the spot with no preparation time. In-between studio sessions, Dinner recorded and overdubbed material in his apartment on an early 80's 4-track recorder.

Dinner, the alter-ego of LA-based Danish producer Anders Rhedin, is back with his second full-length New Work, out on September 8! For his new album, Rhedin battled his own perfectionism by pushing himself to collaborate more, think less, and work at a high pace throughout a short and intense period of late-night recording sessions. New Work features collaborations with artists like Charlie Hilton of Blouse and Sean Nicholas Savage.

Waiting four years to release a sophomore album is always a dicey proposition, and for Australian provocateur Kirin J. Callinan, the risk hasn't yielded much reward. His 2013 solo debut, Embracism, scrutinized and satirized masculine gender norms via industrial beats and Suede-style glam rock, introducing Callinan's distinct voice and theatrical style to international audiences. Those traits remain nearly a half-decade later, but they've mutated beyond recognition. Callinan's sentimentality has become saccharine, and his flair for the melodramatic now verges on outright camp. The singer attempts to reconcile these traits on his long-overdue followup, but the album's lack of focus results in some baffling decisions.

The enormously wealthy and emotionally remote investment banker Nicholas Van Orton (Michael Douglas) receives a strange gift from his ne’er-do-well younger brother (Sean Penn) on his forty-eighth birthday: a voucher for a game that, if he agrees to play it, will change his life. Thus begins a trip down the rabbit hole that is puzzling, terrifying, and exhilarating for Nicholas and viewers alike. This multilayered, noirish descent into one man’s personal hell is also a surreal, metacinematic journey that, two years after the phenomenon Se7en, further demonstrated that director David Fincher was one of Hollywood’s true contemporary visionaries.
