This release also includes secure kernel features that help protect Windows Server hardware, firmware, and functionality from complex security threats. The core server is built on technologies such as Windows Defender System Guard and Virtualization-based Security to mitigate the risk of sophisticated malware and firmware vulnerabilities.

Microsoft has released a new update for Windows Server 2022 as part of today's patch day for January 2021. Cumulative update KB5009555 addresses a known issue that affects Japanese Input Method Editors (IME) and makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates.
