Shine on

It is 1978 and Climax Blues Band is at the peak of its powers during a happy golden era when rock bands rule. They had hit the charts the previous year with funky single Couldn't Get It Right and they get it right on again with shiny new album Shine On . It features marvellous performances from a classic Climax line up with Peter Haycock at the helm on lead guitar and vocals. Peter is joined by Colin Cooper, the deep toned vocal-meister and superb alto sax player. They are boosted by a super tight rhythm section comprising Derek Holt (bass) and John Cuffley (drums).

"Shine On" is third live album by American heavy metal band Riot, released in 1998 in Japan by Zero Corporation and in the US by Metal Blade Records. In the Japanese edition track 7 "Swords and Tequila" is replaced by "Watching the Signs" and track 16 "Outlaw" by "Nightbreaker". Excellent sound quality and a good selection of songs from the newer Riot catalogue.

This is a 12-track British compilation of Badfinger's two Warner Bros. albums, containing eight songs from Badfinger and four from Wish You Were Here, both originally released in 1974. None of the band's classic tracks are to be found here, but this set demonstrates that even in decline Badfinger could make some enjoyable music.
