This Is Acting is the seventh studio album by Australian singer-songwriter Sia. It was released on 29 January 2016 by Inertia, Monkey Puzzle and RCA. The album was preceded by the release of the lead single, "Alive" on 24 September 2015. The album is mainly an electropop album with soul influences. The album is composed of songs written by Sia that were rejected by other artists, such as Adele and Rihanna. The album received generally positive reviews from music critics, who complimented the bold production and Sia’s vocals. However, it received criticisms for the fact that the songs were not very personal and the messages of the songs could be taken in different ways.

Even when she's crafting hits for other people, there's a vulnerability in Sia's songwriting that rings true. On This Is Acting, she sings some of the songs she wrote for — and were rejected by — stars such as Adele, Rihanna, and Katy Perry. Though they were intended for other singers, Sia sounds as commanding and genuine as ever. "Alive," which she co-wrote with Adele, has an empowering sweep that Sia takes in a direction that is all hers, while "Bird Set Free" is both intimate and anthemic, a territory of which she is the queen.

Sia Kate Isobelle Furler is an Australian singer, songwriter, record producer and music video director. She started her career as a singer in the acid jazz band Crisp in the mid-1990s in Adelaide. In 1997, when Crisp disbanded, she released her debut studio album titled OnlySee in Australia, but it did not sell well. She moved to London, England, and provided lead vocals for the British duo Zero 7.

It featuring six songs in total, of which four are from her critically-acclaimed chart-topping album THIS IS ACTING released in January of this year. The other two songs are “Chandelier” and “Elastic Heart”, from her previous album 1000 FORMS OF FEAR.

A cherishable Mozart soprano of the 1950s and 60s, celebrated with the complete reissue of a Decca recital album, newly remastered. The quality that defined Graziella Sciutti as a singer was lightness of voice, of bearing and presence on stage. Her vivacious intelligence was no less suited to the Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti roles which began what was remarkably her only operatic recital album, recorded by Decca in Vienna in 1961. There is Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), which marked her debut at Glyndebourne in 1953 and Norina (Don Pasquale), which in Milan saw her unofficially crowned as the 'Queen of the Piccola Scala'. As Maria in La figlia del reggimento, she had made her Wexford Festival debut in 1957, at a time when Donizetti's opera was virtually unknown; the critic of the Musical Times was entirely won over by 'both the personality and singing of Graziella Sciutti.

Of Rossini’s thirty-nine operas Il barbiere di Siviglia is the only one to have remained in the repertoire since its composition. When the composer met Beethoven in Vienna the great man told Rossini to only compose buffa operas like Il Barbiere. Verdi was also a great admirer of the work as he was of Rossini’s opera seria and particularly his William Tell. Il Barbiere was one of the works Rossini squeezed in during his contract as Musical Director of the Royal Theatres at Naples and where he was supposed to present two new works every year.
