Although Furtwängler's recorded legacy is extensive, recordings of concertos are relatively few. This 1949 recording of Brahms' Violin Concerto is notable for the legendary conductor's highly expressive accompaniment.

André Cluytens (pronunciation: [ɑn'dreː 'klœytəns]) (born March 26, 1905 in Antwerp – † June 3, 1967 in Neuilly-sur-Seine) was a Belgian-French conductor.

Steinberg was born Hans Wilhelm Steinberg in Cologne, Germany. He displayed early talent as a violinist, pianist, and composer, conducting his own choral/orchestral composition (based on texts from Ovid's Metamorphoses) at age 13. In 1914, he began studies at the Cologne Conservatory, where his piano teacher was the Clara Schumann pupil Lazzaro Uzielli and his conducting mentor was Hermann Abendroth. He graduated with distinction, winning the Wüllner Prize for conducting, in 1919.

Gustav Heinrich Ernst Martin Wilhelm Furtwängler (* 25. Januar 1886 in Schöneberg; † 30. November 1954 in Ebersteinburg bei Baden-Baden; beigesetzt auf dem Bergfriedhof in Heidelberg) war ein deutscher Dirigent und Komponist. Er gilt als einer der bedeutendsten Dirigenten des 20. Jahrhunderts.

This new 2022 remastering was done by Philip Siney, longtime sound engineer of Decca, & supervised by Dominic Fyfe, Decca Classics Label Director. Thanks to these new transfers and new, optimized remastering technologies, significant sound improvements could be achieved. For the first time, Wagner's Gesamtkunstwerk can also be experienced in Dolby Atmos surround sound.

Gould rejected most of the standard Romantic piano literature by Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, and others, in favour of Bach and Beethoven mainly, along with some late-Romantic and modernist composers.

Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 4 in E-flat major, WAB 104, is one of the composer's most popular works. It was written in 1874 and revised several times through 1888. It was dedicated to Prince Konstantin of Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst. It was premiered in 1881 by Hans Richter in Vienna to great acclaim. The symphony's nickname of Romantic was used by the composer himself. This was at the height of the Romantic movement in the arts as depicted, amongst others, in the operas Lohengrin and Siegfried of Richard Wagner.

Glenn Herbert Gould September 25, 1932 – October 4, 1982) was a Canadian classical pianist. He was one of the most famous and celebrated pianists of the 20th century, and was renowned as an interpreter of the keyboard works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Gould's playing was distinguished by remarkable technical proficiency and a capacity to articulate the contrapuntal texture of Bach's music.

There is perhaps no other musical ensemble more consistently and closely associated with the history and tradition of European classical music than the Vienna Philharmonic.
