Smart Grids

This book comprises the select proceedings of the International Conference in Power, Energy, Control, Signals and Systems (IPECS) 2022. The book focuses on intelligent solutions for smart grids and smart cities. The content of this book is designed to develop many innovative ideas for an energy-efficient and sustainable future. It focuses on recent technological advances and challenges in the field of grid integration of renewable energy resources, AI/ML in power and energy systems, security enhancement of power systems/electronics using advanced ML techniques for integration of renewable energies, electric vehicle-energy storage, and battery charging technologies, etc.

Transportation electrification, particularly using electric vehicles (EV), has been widely suggested to mitigate global warming and energy security issues due to their economic and environmental benefits. Environmentalists are advertising EV use, and governments are implementing financial incentives to expedite the transition from conventional vehicles to electric ones to achieve energy security and climate change mitigation goals. At the same time, EVs are becoming more affordable as their battery prices decrease.

This book highlights original research and recent advances in various fields related to smart cities and their applications. It gathers papers presented at the Fourth International Conference on Smart City Applications (SCA19), held on October 2–4, 2019, in Casablanca, Morocco.
