Soilwork is back with their twelfth studio album, which represents the band in their growth and their current phase of life, which is marked by a time period that probably no one on this planet will forget so quickly.
Unlike the albums before, the creation process of Övergivenheten was very lengthy and a representation of the emotional state of the guys from Soilwork. Recorded at Nordic Sound Lab in Skara, Sweden again with producer Thomas “Plec” Johansson, who also produced the last two projects, the album was written and recorded over three sessions between January and December 2021. There was no hurry to finish the album, which meant on the other side that the band was able to reflect on their music and savor the process of creating the album…
Swedish melodic death metal band Soilwork are ready to release their ninth studio album ‘The Living Infinite’ on March 1st in Europe and March 5th in the US via Nuclear Blast, and this is an album that’s perhaps as important for the band’s career as anything they’ve previously put out, for a number of reasons. This is their first ever double album, with 20 brand new original tracks on two discs. When it comes to melodic extreme metal, particularly Soilwork with their unbeatable clean vocals, I almost think of it as pop music for metalheads, and I say that as a compliment. But lately, heavyweights like Children Of Bodom and In Flames have disappointed fans of this sub-genre with their newer releases even though they continue to thrive as great live bands. SOILWORK’s musical and their philosophical approach on the new EP does not only close the circle of the ‘The Feverish Trinity’ but also invites the listener to dive deep into the most primal element: Water. Starting with ‘Feverish’ and ending with ‘A Whisp Of The Atlantic’, the whole EP is a journey from the rage of individuals to the search for something that replaces religion. “From the desire of Feverish, the urge of Desperado, the determinism of Death Diviner, the insights and questions of The Nothingness and the Devil and the acceptance and spiritual searching of A Whisp of the Atlantic.
The veteran Swedish metal group's tenth studio long-player, Verkligheten arrives via its cinematic title track, a slow-burn instrumental that evokes Bring Me the Horizon by way of Ennio Morricone. Soilwork have been infusing punishing Gothenburg-style death metal with European power metal majesty since the mid-'90s, and Verkligheten doesn't disappoint on the latter end of the equation, delivering a meaty 12-track set that's spilling over with soaring guitarmonies and horned hand-soliciting choruses…
