If he were so minded, Jordi Savall might hand copies of this CD out to new acquaintances as the musical equivalent of a calling-card. True, he appears here only in the guise of soloist, whereas a more complete portrait would need to include samples of his work as director and conductor; but as an illustration of the range of the viola da gamba, this generously filled disc is exemplary. And although the calling-card might not be handmade, it is the nearest thing to it, since Alia Vox is Savall’s own, newly established label.

Sintesis is one of fews Cuban Symphonic Rock group formed at the end of 1976 when the vocal quartet Tema IV join another musician wich purpose is to mix the Afro Cuban folklore with elements of Pink Floyd, Genesis, ELP, Rush and Yes.
Released in 1978, this album is a very interesting mixture of traditional prog and folk elements and some of "Nueva Trova", an epic Cuban revolutionary songs style. Soft, elegant and beautiful, a sort of a very melodic prog music. Very nice interplay between male and female voices (in Spanish), chorus, electric guitars, classic piano, Moog and organ.

This remarkable set, culled from the archives of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation during the early years in which Glenn Gould emerged as a major classical pianist (1951–55), packages together five discs previously issued singly between 1994 and 1999. The only new CD in the collection is the second Bach disc, which features typically scintillating performances of the Partita No. 5, Three-Part Inventions, Italian Concerto , and the Concerto in D Minor. Of the various discs here, the only one to contain works not issued commercially by Columbia-CBS-Sony is the second Beethoven CD (originally released in 1997 as CBC 2013).
