Spinal Tap

This Is Spinal Tap (or simply Spinal Tap) was the soundtrack to the film This Is Spinal Tap, released in 1984. It was re-released in 2000 with lyrics and two versions of "Christmas with the Devil" as bonus tracks. The cover art is identical to that of the fictional album Smell the Glove featured in the film.

(Music On Filments). In 1984, four comedians Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Rob Reiner, and Harry Shearer unleashed This Is Spinal Tap , the world's first "mock-rockumentary" and a joke that has lasted into the 21st century and inspired a generation of imitations.

The story behind Smalls Change (Meditations Upon Ageing) goes like this: Derek Smalls, the bass player for metal relics Spinal Tap, mustered the wherewithal to craft a grand, star-studded final statement at the age of 77. By having his creation Derek Smalls go solo, Harry Shearer gets to sidestep the difficultly of mounting an actual Spinal Tap reunion and also craft a nearly bulletproof project: if the album is bad, well, that's just part of the joke, because solo albums by bassists are almost always bad.
