Alexis Kossenko returns to centre stage with a project focussing on works by Georg Philipp Telemann, one of the most prolific composers in the history of music, with more than 6,000 works to his name! From them, Alexis Kossenko has chosen two concertos with orchestra: one for flute, the other for flute and violin, preceded by an overture. This programme is perfectly composed to demonstrate what a great Baroque conductor he has become as well as, of course, showcasing his impressive qualities as a flautist. It is also the occasion to again find Zefira Valova as Konzertmeister and soloist in one of the concertos.

Aglaia is an organic ambient project from Italy formed by Gino Fioravanti and Gianluigi Toso. Beatless soundscapes with warm tones and some hints of acoustic instruments. Soaked in reverb. Three Organic Experiences (2003) is comprised of three mammoth tracks, all stylistically related but separate compositions. The effect created as a totality is akin to a gradual sinking beneath the sea, floating ever down, to eventually rest on ocean's bottom - surrounded by a beautiful, submerged garden populated by radiant, sea life…

Delirium is an important band in the history of Italian progressive rock music, having been active since 1970. They originally formed in Genoa during the late 1960s as I Sagittari and their line-up consisted of Ettore Vigo (keyboards), Peppino Di Santo (drums, vocals), Mimmo Di Martino (acoustic guitar) and Marcello Reale (bass). The later arrival of Ivano Fossati (vocals, keyboards, flute) completed the band, whose early musical style was a mix of the so-called Italian melodic tradition and UK progressive influences, in particular King Crimson and Colosseum…

Collaborators for a number of years, Philippe Sly and John Charles Britton see these Schubert Sessions as a way to broaden and heighten Schubert’s place in popular culture, in particular in terms of his influence on modern popular song. The recording also fulfills a need to revisit these lyric masterpieces in a form that emphasizes not only their idiom (many of these pieces, including Wohin? and Auf Dem Wasser Zu Singen, exhibit writing that is more guitaristic than pianistic) but their polymorphic essence.

This is the fourth volume of Louis Lortie's highly-successful series devoted to Chopin. The recording perfectly illustrates how Chopin elevated the waltz to a genre of musical art, from danses de salon evocative of a genial milieu to 'works' with proper opus numbers. Growing up in the 1820s, the composer at first viewed the waltz purely pragmatically, as a means to a social end in the dance salon. But after spending time in Vienna and Paris in the 1830s he decided that a waltz might be worthy of the deeper appreciation accorded a 'work'.

The extant concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach for one harpsichord and strings were all composed before 1738, which makes them some of the first, if not the first keyboard concertos – a genre destined to become one of the most popular within classical music. In all likelihood Bach wrote them for his own use (or that of his talented sons) – probably to be performed with Leipzig’s Collegium Musicum of which he had taken over as director in 1729. The fresh and exuberant character one finds in the concertos seems to reflect how much Bach enjoyed the opportunity to engage with his fellow musicians.

Etonnant Lavilliers ! Brillant voyageur, qui change encore une fois la donne. Dans ce 21ème album studio, il envoie valser d un coup de rein les rythmes chaloupés, au profit de guitares électriques, cordes, cuivres et percussions orchestrées en bouquets énergisants.
