To honor their 20th anniversary, Dream Theater embarked on a world tour that culminated at Radio City Music Hall in New York. It was a nearly three hour extravaganza and part of it was backed by the 30 piece Octavarium Orchestra.

Though the Singers Unlimited have not recorded a new album since 1980's "Easy To Love," their popularity continues unabated. Their fourteen album catalog, recorded for Germany's MPS records and now available as the "Magic Voices" collection, reflects the best of what the human voice is capable. The arrangements that member Gene Puerling wrote for the group were nothing short of a revelation-and the group's use of studio multi-tracking (a burgeoning technology) developed a sound never heard before. The name "Singers Unlimited" is forever inscribed in the annals of vocal jazz, and deservedly so.

After its eclosion in Santo-Domingo, merengue established its supremacy as Latin dance-music. Dominican musicians in exile in New York propagated the genre further, and their orchestras contributed to the great Latin wave which swept over the Fifties.A style as fabulous as it is little-known, at the root of kompa music, pachanga, bachata, bomba and salsa, this authentic merengue music was one of the most influential styles of its time, and one of the great gems of the Caribbean.This anthology compiled by Bruno Blum with a detailed commentary contains treasures which have eluded many for almost a half century.

Joaquin Diaz Gonzalez (Zamora, 1947) is a Spanish musician and folklorist. Although born in Zamora, the four years he moved to Valladolid, where he studied media and academics. In the mid 60's became involved in the study and dissemination of traditional culture, especially the community of Castile and Leon, offering concerts and lectures at universities in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Holland and USA.

He has also dedicated several works to the repertoire of Judeo-Spanish. Has promoted traditional Spanish music on radio and television in Europe, Asia and America. In 1976 he left the live performances to focus exclusively on research and promotion of popular culture. Throughout his long career, he has published some fifty books on various aspects of oral tradition: tales, romances and songs, popular expressions, etc.., And over two hundred articles and essays in various publications. He has recorded some sixty albums and participated in the creation of so many, working with numerous performers and popular music groups.
