Nothing too silent here, as the set's filled with the kind of soulful fusion grooves we'd expect from Hubert Laws in the 70s! The album's a real standout in his Columbia catalog – a perfectly balanced set that features plenty of great work from Hubert on flute, amidst arrangements that also have a bit of a groove on most numbers – never too smooth, nor too commercial – and very much in the spirit of Bobbi Humphrey's excellent late 70s sides for the label. As with those records, there's a bit of vocals here – sung in a lovely way by Debra and Eloise Laws – and there's also a bit of strings here, but used sparingly to match the sweetly stepping rhythms.

It also included the pop-rock "Please Stay, Go Away" and the full-on rock of "Living a Lie". The album was certified gold in both the United States and Canada. During the years 1994-1996 Time-Life produced a CD & Magazine called "Grooves". Veteran New York City DJ Vin Scelsa was given full control of the project, and a total of 14 wonderful issues were produced. They each highlighted Vin's selections of the best tracks from the best new albums/artists of the time. In addition, the last track on every CD was a bonus acoustic track by one of the featured artists recorded in the studio just for "Grooves". It was the next best thing to listening to Vin's radio show, "Idiot's Delight".

Born on September 16, 1958, Chris Eaton grew up in the West Midlands of England, influenced by music ranging from Deep Purple to Cliff Richard, a diversity that would serve him well during his career as a singer, songwriter, and producer. He was a member of the band Lyrix in the ‘80s, but left, eventually issuing a solo record, "Vision", in 1986. Following its release, Eaton shifted his focus to less prominent, yet intrinsic roles in the music industry. As a songwriter, his songs have been performed and recorded by a myriad of Christian artists, including Susan Ashton and Margaret Becker, as well as numerous notable artists in other genres such as Sheena Easton, Vince Gill, and Boney James.
