Although often lumped into the 'grunge' movement (a national support to Nirvana's only Australian tour in 1992 only added to this), Tumbleweed's sound was arguably more 'stoner rock', and closer in style to bands like Kyuss and earlier antecendents like Black Sabbath or Australia's Buffalo.

Ever the thinker, saxophonist Steve Coleman now delves into the connection between human biology and music with Functional Arrhythmias, perhaps his most accessible release in recent memory. With a vast discography that has covered everything from unadulterated funk in 1988's Sine Die (Pegasus) to advanced concepts in 2011's The Mancy of Sound (Pi), his curiosity and influence continue to expand.

The team behind last year's excellent The Glory Days Of Aussie Pub Rock compilation return with another four-CD instalment paying testament to the halcyon days of our nation's live music scene, and fortunately they have a deep well from which to draw tunes and inspiration.
