This is the reunion of two albums, one is from Violence Fog, the other from Jerusalem. Both bands represent the bombastic heavy facet of krautrock next to bands such as Pancake…
Brilliant German undergound band, famous for their eponymous LP from 1971 on Bacillus. This CD has 4 long never before released tracks from a 1971 broadcast session in the same vein as their self-titled debut album. Great underground rock with heavy guitar riffs and spherical organ sound. As bonus comes a complete 2001 album by bandleader and guitar player Bernhard Rendel with a scope reaching from space rock to psychedelic sounds. Includes a 12 page booklet.
This boxed set, according to the jacket were recorded between 1964 and 1978 by the SWF Sinfonierorchester Baden-Baden [ & Freiburg] under the baton of Ernest Bour, its Music Director (1964-78). No specific dates are given for any of these individual recordings. Many of the current generation may not be familiar with Mr. Bour, or his orchestra, which is unfortunate.
COUPLA PROG had no album release during their existence from 1969 to 1975 which is a great surprise. The members decided to work without any commercial approach. The band's complete material was recorded at four sessions between 1970 and 1972 and buried in the archives until the beginning of this century…
After the release of there one and only album on the famous Vertigo label in 1972, Odin were invited by German radio SWF to produce 4 titles for a radio show in February 1973. A 12-minutes version of 'Live is only' and a 11-minutes version of the Zappa composition 'King Kong' are fine examples for Odin's terrific musicianship. 'Oh no' and the Terstall composition 'Turnpike lane' make the radio recording session complete. In addition to the radio recordings there is a bonustrack from a concert in autumn 1971 titled 'Make up your mind' which is an impressive example of the bands early works. All titles are digitally remastered. The booklet contains a comprehensive band history with a lot of rare photos.
The history of the Long hair label starts with the release of recordings of more or less unknown bands from the late sixties/ early seventies, who run a band competition in former German radio station SWR (South West Broadcast) and received with the recordings a wider public. A few of them like My Solid Ground, Kraan, became famous and recorded a lot of albums on well known German Krautrock labels. Others like Coupla Prog, Puppenhaus, Papa Zoot or JudДs Gallery played and recorded their music at the radio studio but received no official record deal and most of the band members started a career in an other profession. STAGG, four guys from Frankfurt, all students are one of the very best who recorded at the SWF.
Long Hair is not only proud to present Tortilla Flat's legendary sole album 'Für Ein 3/4 Stündchen', but also the group's lot more legendary broadcast sessions for Germany's leading underground and krautrock program on radio SWF. The mainly instrumental album is very flute-driven, in opposite to the latter album, which was more electric violin-dominated, with very exciting guitar playing accompanied by rocking drumming and nimble bass lines. Very tight! And very Teutonic! There were not so many progressive rock bands in the early 1970s which were flute and violin dominated, but also don't forget the great solo play of lead guitarist Manfred Herten. An early version of their main opus 'Tortilla Flat' shows the band with violinist Werner Knauber and Herman Basten on flute at its best, a dramatic increase with great tunes…
Brilliantly unique heavy-kraut-psychedelica album with a great sense of rhythm and melody. It features rare classic jam sessions from this 70's German collective…
The Bruckner recordings on this second volume of the Michael Gielen EDITION were made principally with the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg. This enables the listener to follow the orchestra's development over the years, culminating in their outstanding 2013 performance of Bruckner’s Ninth Symphony.
