Dmitry Evgrafov returns with his fourth career album and third for FatCat’s 130701 imprint (Max Richter, Johann Johannsson, Dustin O’Halloran and Hauschka). His most accomplished work to date, ‘Surrender’ is a broad and dramatic record that expands the Moscow-based artist’s palette and reaches beyond the usual post-classical range. Revealing an ambitious scope across the twelve-track span, it is bold in conception and beautifully recorded.

All DJs have their own way of building their set. Some pick records entirely on the spur of the moment and trust their instincts, others write down a precise list on a piece of paper and never stray from it; the set is a kitchen where the DJ is the Chef. It doesn't matter how it’s done, as long as it's done properly and enjoyed by everyone, that's what matters the most.

The world has changed a lot since 1992, when Don Breithaupt first collected an album's worth of his irresistibly hooky and jazzy pop songs and formed Monkey House. Since then, the talented and prolific Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, composer, arranger, and producer has stamped the band's Kurt Vonnegut-inspired moniker on five albums of original material, including Headquarters (2012), Left (2016) and Friday (2019), the latter a blazing tour de force which topped the iTunes jazz chart and went to #11 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Albums chart.

Under the leadership of jazz-trained psychedelic force Laurie Erskine, Club Kuru return with their third album Before The World after a five year hiatus. This follows the widespread acclaim of their first two albums, which included spots on the 6Music playlist, a sync on HBO's High Maintenance, and a tour alongside Jungle. With members who also lend their talents to acclaimed acts like Moses Boyd and Mercury Prize winner Michael Kiwanuka, Club Kuru seamlessly merges inventive musicality with the ethereal allure unique to psychedelic pop.

Yet as great a need as she has for transparency, Starr’s sense of responsibility was stronger. She had to ask herself, how real is too real at the beginning of recording her first LP “Blaming the Weather.” Starr’s intention as a songwriter has long been to make listeners feel less alone by speaking the truth. Still, when articulating the highs and lows of her life post-2020 she wanted to be sensitive to her audience’s emotional state. Along with her producer Kyle Henderson they began searching for ways to strike a balance between being literal and offering listeners solace.

Cellist/composer Clarice Jensen returns with her third album, ‘Esthesis’, a deep and gorgeous new work conceptually structured around the emotional and harmonic spectrum and the phenomenon of chromesthesia – a condition whereby sound involuntarily evokes an experience of color, shape and movement.

In 2019, as he blows out his 70 candles, The Boss releases Western Stars, an album out of sync with his own shots and unlike anything he has recorded so far.

This is Cullman's first fully cooperative album with longtime friend and collaborator Jimi Zhivago (Glen Hansard, Ollabelle). Many of the songs were assembled during writing sessions where the two of them played ideas off one another, working through melodies and rhythms until the pieces were fully in sync. Zhivago was crucial in helping to shape eclectic sounds to Cullman's lyrics & melodies.
