Two personalities, two great musicians, two musical stories, one "Philosophia".
On the one hand, John Porter, an Englishman who chose Poland as his home in the 70s, was in the first composition of Maanam, played Cohen's ballads with Maciej Zembaty, recorded solo albums and a duet with Anita Lipnicka, and above all the founder and frontman of the legendary Porter Band. On the other hand, Wojtek Mazolewski is a man whose music is one of the best Polish export products, a tireless propagator of jazz, playing around the world with Pink Freud or Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet. Their joint album is a combination of classic with modernity, rock claw with jazz virtuosity and a blues spirit, closed in the form of well-cut songs.
In 1697 King Jan III of Poland died. Attempts to install his son Jacob as King were unsuccessful and the widow of the recently deceased king, Maria Kazimiera Sobieska (also known as Marysieńka) made the decision to move to Rome. In March of 1699 she arrived there – accompanied by 259 courtiers, 30 carriages and carts, some 500 horses and a number of pack-camels! She was soon very active in the cultural life of Rome. Amongst her acquaintances was cardinal Pietro Ottoboni, a famous patron of music. Ottoboni employed Scarlatti, and was an admirer of his music - so much so that he later contributed a Latin epigraph to the composer’s tomb in Naples.
