Olga Reiser is a Russian born flautist from Wiesbaden / Germany. In addition to classical music, Olga Reiser also inspires her audience with modern playing techniques such as beatbox flute, multiphonics and looping.

With Joy in Spite of Everything - an album of new compositions by the pianist for a trans-Atlantic quintet – Bollani has made his most beautifully textured and infectiously lyrical statement yet. He recorded these nine pieces at New York City’s Avatar Studios with the Danish rhythm section from his Stone in the Water trio – bassist Jesper Bodilsen and drummer Morten Lund plus two prominent American players and ECM intimates: guitarist Bill Frisell and saxophonist Mark Turner. As its title reflects, Joy in Spite of Everything brims with an indefatigable lightness of spirit despite the inevitable shadows of life.

Zero Gravity is the latest compilation from Canadian label Interchill featuring 21 tracks from a stellar line-up of producers. The sounds are deep, lush and engaging, and being a double cd you get more time to enjoy where you’re going. Some of the tracks have been previously released and others were made for the album. The artistic brief for the new tracks was music for modern opium dens; so break out the pillows, lower the lights and get comfortable. Many of the artists have had tracks or albums released on Interchill before - and two of them (Adham Shaikh and Legion of Green Men) had tracks on Interchill’s first compilation Northern Circuits which was released 21 years ago…

John Scofield’s first guitar-solo-recording ever gives a résumé of all the influences and idioms he has cultivated over his career in performances on guitar, accompanied by his own rhythmic pulse and chordal backing using a loop machine. Besides jazz, John is known to have always also had a soft spot for the rock and roll and country music he grew up with, revealed here in unencumbered renditions of Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away” and Hank Williams’ “You Win Again”. Between elegant and personal readings of standards, like “It Could Happen To You”, the traditional “Danny Boy” and Keith Jarret’s “Coral”, Scofield presents his own timeless compositions – some new, others known. For the guitarist, it’s all about “the way you get the sound out of the string and what you do with it after you attack it.”
