After recording six acclaimed albums with bassist Joan Chamorro, Barcelona-based trumpeter, singer and composer Andrea Motis makes her solo debut on Impulse! Records with Emotional Dance. The astonishing accord that she’s cultivated with Chamorro during the past seven years is firmly intact on Emotional Dance. The sterling performances features him as well as pianist Ignasi Terraza, drummer Esteve Pi, guitarist Josep Traver as the core ensemble. Like with Chamorro, Motis has recorded and toured consistently with these musicians.

Sant Andreu Jazz Band is a youth jazz band from Barcelona, 7 to 22-year-old children and teenagers. The band leader is Joan Chamorro. The band was founded in 2006 at Escola Municipal de Musica de Sant Andreu. «I learn every day from my students, who don’t stop teaching me that we have no limits, that we always can advance, that enjoying every moment we are unconsciously aware that the best is yet to come, but not because that we live waiting, because, once and again, we are in the best moment: the present.» –Joan Chamorro. In 2012 the film director Ramón Tort made the documentary A film about kids and music based on the band's work and efforts. The film was awarded best feature film at the Lights. Camera. Help. festival in Austin, Texas, in 2013.

Although the current jazz scene is truly exciting in terms of the large number and the quality of classical jazz groups made up of young Catalan musicians, we must not lose sight of the fact that this was a very different picture just twenty years ago. The work of the various schools and workshops where this style of music is taught has made its mark. But we believe that the greatest merit belongs to those musicians who, having begun their career in the latter decades of the 20th century and who didnt follow the mainstream or get support from the media, chose to follow the path of classical jazz not through simple imitation but with a determination to make their own contribution to the renewal and revitalisation of the traditional language of jazz.

However, Joan Chamorro, director of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, took advantage of the situation and recorded different rehearsals with small groups at the Jazz House, headquarters of the SAJB. They will be released as Jazzing 11 vol. 2 and Jazzing 11 vol. 3.Finally, it was possible to perform within the framework of the Barcelona Jazz Festival 2020, a concert that was also recorded and that will be released as Jazzing 11 vol. 4.
