The Amps

Experience was a posthumous live album by Jimi Hendrix, released in August 1971 in the United Kingdom by Ember Records. The album was intended as a soundtrack to the unreleased film Experience documenting The Jimi Hendrix Experience's performance at the Royal Albert Hall on February 24, 1969. It peaked at No. 9 in the U.K. album charts in September 1971.

An album doesn't have to be the be-all-end-all showcase of varied sounds and emotions to grab me as something special. It doesn't have to own a perfect balance of upbeat and plaintive moods. It doesn't have to intersperse rockers with ballads with mid-tempos at optimal track positioning. An album simply has set to some part of my psyche afire, open an electrical circuit between me and the music that never switches off for the entire length of the collection.

After a brief return to his hard rock roots in 2002's Scars, guitarist Gary Moore comes back to the blues where his heart seems to be. But really, Moore's forte is his knack of combining the meaty licks and rugged tone from his gutsy rock to energize the electric blues music he has embraced since 1990's Still Got the Blues. To that end, Scars' drummer Darrin Mooney returns and Bob Daisley, veteran of such thundering outfits as Ozzy Osbourne's band, Uriah Heep and Rainbow, joins on bass.

Released in early 1977, Damned Damned Damned was the first full-length album released by a UK punk group and it remains a certified punk classic. The British press has had mostly positive notes for the album; the American press has also looked upon the album kindly, Ned Raggett at the All Music Guide gave the album their highest rating of five stars, declaring "Damned Damned Damned is and remains rock at its messy, wonderful best"…

Ray Davies had indulged himself one time too often with Soap Opera, and his bandmates, namely brother Dave and founding member Mick Avory, revolted, insisting that their sixth RCA album sound more like a Kinks album (certainly, that's something RCA wanted too). So, Davies designed their next album as a return to a simpler, band-oriented sound. Of course, he didn't jettison his love for conceptual works, so Schoolboys in Disgrace was born. Working under the presumption that a return to simple rock demanded a simple theme, Davies constructed the album as a nostalgic trip through childhood, reviving '50s rock & roll (including the occasional doo wop harmony) for the album's foundation, then turning the amps up high.
