Playing what was originally scheduled to be their final show of the tour, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band drop one of the best of 1978 at The Fox. No full recording of Atlanta 10/1/78, audience or otherwise, has ever been available. Newly mixed from Plangent Processed, multitrack masters, 10/1/78 is a previously unheard Darkness tour masterwork, from the show-opening cover of the Rolling Stones' "The Last Time" through the encore closer "Quarter To Three." In between, we're treated to "Heartbreak Hotel," "It's My Life," "Meeting Across The River," "For You," "Because The Night," "Point Blank," "Kitty's Back" and "Incident On 57th Street" across this go-out-with-a-bang, 24-song set.
German music produced by a Bavarian band, the one of musician, composer and conductor Karl Barthel, consisting of more than twenty musicians mostly with wind and brass instruments. The LP, released in 1978 in Germany, brings 12 tracks, nine of which are the creation of own Barthel, offering styles as typical marches and polkas among others.
Originally signed to the F&E in 1977 label under the moniker 'Gypsy' the group had a slight name change before being picked up by the mighty arm of RCA who gave them a wider platform courtesy of a full length album in '78.
"The Man" is the self-produced eighth album by soul singer Barry White, released in 1978 on the revived 20th Century-Fox Records label, which saw its name reverted from 20th Century. The album became White's sixth R&B chart topper and peaked at #36 on the pop chart. Lead single "Your Sweetness Is My Weakness" reached #2 on the R&B chart and #60 on the Billboard Hot 100, while White's cover of Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are" reached #45 on the R&B chart and peaked at #12 on the UK Singles Chart. A third single, "Sha La La Means I Love You", peaked at #55 on the UK Singles Chart. A cover version of "It's Only Love Doing Its Thing" (with the shortened title "It's Only Love") would be a hit for British band Simply Red in 1989. The album was digitally remastered and reissued on CD on September 24, 1996 by Mercury Records.
Essential: a masterpiece of progressive rock music.
While on the British continent ELP, GENESIS and YES became extravagant millionairs, on the other side of the Atlantic 'six hillbillies' with their band KANSAS turned out to be the best and one of the most popular USA progrock band ever.
