The Heshoo Beshoo Group - Armitage Road (Remastered) (1970/2020) [Official Digital Download 24/96]

The Heshoo Beshoo Group - Armitage Road (Remastered) (1970/2020)
FLAC (tracks) 24-bit/96 kHz | Front Cover | Time - 40:06 minutes | 809 MB
Cape Jazz, Post-Bop | Label: We Are Busy Bodies, Official Digital Download

With a unique sound founded on a persuasive mix of American and African jazz, Armitage Road, originally released in 1970, was the only studio recording released by South Africa’s Heshoo Beshoo Group. As a highly prized collector’s item, a re-issue and re-appraisal of this lost gem from the apartheid era has been long overdue. Heshoo Beshoo loosely translates from the inter-tribal lingo of the townships as either ‘going by force’, or ‘moving with force’. That is certainly the case here. With its undeniably funky element Armitage Road combines graceful and moving playing with invention and passion, and it does not disappoint from start to finish.

Formed in Lancashire in 1969 around the nucleus of three brothers, John, Lea and Neil Heather, Quiet World was a studio recording project perhaps best known for being the first album to feature future GENESIS guitarist STEVE HACKETT (and with a guest appearance from Steve's brother, John). Signed to Pye Records' progressive imprint, Dawn, the band's sole album was The Road, issued in August 1970. An impressive concept album, Quiet World's sole LP is now a hugely in demand collector's item. Shortly thereafter, Steve Hackett left to join the progressive rock group Genesis as lead guitarist.

This is the first Mosaic set to be pressed at Chad Kassem’s Quality Record Pressings in Salina, Kansas. About the pressings coming out of QRP, Michael Fremer wrote on TrackingAngle.com,” all I can say is THIS IS INCREDIBLE!!!!!! The sonics are spectacular and the pressing quality is as good as has ever been pressed in my opinion. The backgrounds are dead, black, silent the way Japanese pressings used to come on JVC ‘Supervinyl!’ and believe me it doesn’t get any better than that, though this may even be richer, darker and blacker.”

The Idle Race are a beloved band of British psychedelia collectors, because the music was rare, because the band was Jeff Lynne's first significant group, and because the music was, by and large, very good. There is a bit of a relative judgment there - this is not music that stands among the very best of British pop-psych of the '60s, since it's not as innovative or consistent as the Beatles, Pink Floyd, the Move, or even Tomorrow, but it's certainly among the best of the second tier, as singles like "Impostors of Life's Magazine," "Big Chief Wooly Bosher," and "Girl at the Window" illustrate. Since this band itself is a collector's item, it only makes sense for collectors to seek out EMI Premier's 1996 collection Back to the Story, which was only available for a brief period (possibly a matter of months) the year of its release…

EAC Rip | FLAC (image+.cue+log) - 2,06 GB | MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 735 MB | Covers - 714 MB
Genre: Classic Rock, Pop Rock | RAR 3% Rec. | Label: Capitol Records (CDP 7243 5 97051 0 1)

George Harrison's albums for Dark Horse drifted out of print in the late '90s as his contract with Warner Brothers expired. Over the half-decade, they fetched high prices on the collector's market, as any relatively rare Beatles-related item does, and the demand for these records - along with the Traveling Wilburys albums, which were part of Harrison's Dark Horse/Warner contract - never diminished. At the time of his death in November 2001, the albums were being prepared for reissue, but his passing delayed them for a few more years, and it wasn't until February 2004 that the albums - Thirty Three & 1/3 (1976), George Harrison (1979), Somewhere In England (1981), Gone Troppo (1982), Cloud Nine (1987), and Live in Japan (1992) - were reissued, both individually and as part of the lavish box set Dark Horse Years 1976-1992. All five of the studio albums have been remastered and are graced with a bonus track or two.
