The Beatles 1+

The Capitol Albums is a 2 volume, 8 disc box set comprising The Beatles' 1964 and 1965 American Capitol Records releases. The set, which features the first official stereo versions of a number of tracks on compact disc, was released in late 2004 and 2006. The CDs did not contain the original George Martin mixes released in Britain in the 1960s. Instead, the CDs were mastered from mixes prepared by Capitol A&R executive Dave Dexter Jr. The Capitol Albums Volume 1 contains the first four Beatles albums issued by Capitol. The Capitol Albums Volume 2 contains the four Beatles albums issued by Capitol in 1965. Each of these albums is presented first in stereo and then in mono.

'The Lost Album' project was born from the idea of gathering for the first time all the Beatles unreleased compositions.
Also relevant variations of known Beatles compositions, improvs, jams, and cover versions performed by the group
that were never included in any studio album or single. Many of these tracks come from demos, home recordings, rehearsals, etc, so the original quality is low. In this album we try to improve the audio quality as much as possible, recovering audio drops, fixing technical problems, speed correction, recording failures and so on. Software tools have been used to clean, remaster and enhance the tracks, without ever losing the fidelity to their originals. Short and unfinished songs were sewn into each other, with soft transitions, resulting in a more consistent track. Overdubs and collages were all extracted from original Beatles material, from their period of activity (1958 to 1969). A complete 4CD boxset from the source of the 1963 radio series "Pop Goes The Beatles"
From January 1963, The Beatles regularly pulled in U.K. audiences of around ten million on "Saturday Club" and a myriad of other BBC pop shows, until they received the ultimate recognition from the B.B.C. when they were offered their own show, "Pop Go The Beatles". For some groups, a series that demanded five new recordings each week might have been daunting, but it allowed The Beatles to air their influences, and try out some new favourites. Pop Go The Beatles was broadcast in the summer of 1963 and this 4 CD set contains all sixteen episodes. The show features the band taking requests, interacting with presenters Lee Peters (first four episodes) and Rodney Burke (all the other episodes), playing their favourite songs and most importantly, performing live. Whilst most of the Beatles performances here appear on the more extensive BBC collections, it’s a treat to hear these shows in their entirety (except they're not !). The Beatles hadn’t been to America yet and were still Britain’s best kept secret. The innocence of 1963 comes through in these recordings…you can tell they were still just having fun playing together. An added bonus is the exhaustive 20 page booklet of sleeve notes, so detailed that it even transcribes all the between-song banter!

This set includes the never before released Original Odeon Mono German Single (0 22 671), also the duophonic and mono soundtracks, and many more rare treats! All other tracks have been carefully restored and remastered from the best possible sources - each track pitch, level, phase and drop out repaired.
