The Doors, one of the most influential and controversial rock bands of the 1960s, were formed in Los Angeles, California. The 1967 release of The Doors was the first in a series of top ten albums in the US, followed by Strange Days (1967), Waiting for the Sun (1968), The Soft Parade (1969), Morrison Hotel (1970), Absolutely Live (1970) and L.A. Woman (1971), with 19 Gold, 14 Platinum and 5 Multi-Platinum album awards in the United States alone. Although The Doors' active career ended in 1973, their popularity has persisted. According to the RIAA, they have sold 32.5 million certified units in the US. The band has sold over 100 million albums worldwide. The Doors were the first American band to accumulate eight consecutive gold LPs. In 1993, The Doors were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Best of The Doors is a compilation album by the American rock band the Doors, released in August 1973 on Elektra Records. It was the third compilation album to be released by the band. The songs on the album were re-mixed for four channel quadraphonic sound and the album was originally released on LP in the CD-4 Quadradisc format. It was also released on the quadraphonic 8-Track tape and Reel-to-reel tape formats. In 2015 Audio Fidelity released the original quadraphonic mix of The Best of the Doors in the hybrid Super Audio CD format.

The LP is comprised of stripped down “Doors Only” versions of five tracks where the horns and strings have been removed (“Tell All The People,” “Touch Me,” “Wishful Sinful,” “Runnin’ Blue,” and “Who Scared You.”) The set also features three of those stripped-back versions with new guitar parts added by Robby Krieger (“Touch Me,” “Wishful Sinful,” and “Runnin’ Blue").

Infinite, a deluxe, limited-edition, audiophile boxed set from Analogue Productions, contains all six legendary albums by The Doors - the self-titled 1967 debut (one of rock's most important), Strange Days, Waiting For The Sun, The Soft Parade, Morrison Hotel and the visceral L.A. Woman. Each album has been remastered in multichannel for hybrid SACD by Doug Sax and The Doors' original engineer Bruce Botnick.

While there have been "corrected" versions made, in the interests of being historically accurate, this Analogue Productions reissue was cut without speed or pitch correction. Runout details: the sequence "AAPP 75007-45 X" is hand etched, while "TML-M" and "QRP" are stamped on each side. Pressed on 180 gram vinyl, contrary to the 2012 release which was pressed on 200 gram. Contains also an Acoustic Sounds gatefold promotional insert, with date "Fall 2020" or "Summer/Fall 2021" written on first page, and "Manufactured at Quality Record Pressings on 180-gram vinyl" on last page.

The Doors' fourth studio album, 'The Soft Parade', became the band's fourth straight top ten album when it was released. Despite featuring one of the group's biggest hits, 'Touch Me', it remains the most polarising record of The Doors' career, thanks to the brass and string arrangements that embellish several tracks.
