The virtuoso violinist is a roots rock U.S. fiddle champ and one-time king of Nashville's blue chip session players who has spent recent years exploring the riches of classical music. This amazing session is broken up into two main sections, a four movement thrust through the seasons and then a 13 track segment entitled "Strings and Threads Suite" which draws both poignantly and happily from the intense spirit of his Irish heritage. Both are performed with the Metamorphosen Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Scott Yoo. The seasonal sequence is an explicit nod to Vivaldi, wedding to the Shakespearean notion of the seven stages of man.
This is the first CD in a new series for the record label that, “…charts the evolution of soul music across America through genres like R&B, blues and proto soul spanning the fifties and early sixties.” Rather than take each artist at a time, the series forms around the compilation format and, in this first effort, covers 25 tracks.
In early 2018, the guys hit the studio with producer Drew Fulk (Motionless In White, Pop Evil) in Los Angeles to record The Silver Scream. Following the sessions, Ice Nine Kills initially teased the release with The Shining-inspired 'Enjoy Your Slay' featuring a cameo from none other than Sam Kubrick frontman for The Shields and grandson of Stanley Kubrick. The title The Silver Scream fits like a bloody mask. 'It sounded like an eighties slasher flick to me,' exclaims Spencer. 'It s got that tongue-in-cheek double entendre. I really love that.'
