The Last of us

The Last Flight is our version of the story of Amelia Earhart's final, ill-fated journey in 1937. Having successfully navigated over 20,000 miles and 5 continents on her round-the-world trip, her aircraft, the Electra, vanished without trace near Howland Island. Her whereabouts, and those of her navigator, Fred Noonan, remain a lingering mystery to this day. Rather than focus exclusively on the flight itself, the record is as much an examination of Earhart's remarkable character.

The Sunshine Company's very name summons the spirit of the mini-genre of 1960s pop-rock that, long after its heyday, was named sunshine pop. I really worked hard with my producer Arun Chaturvedi, and my A & R guy Greg Howard to go through a ton of songs and really choose the one's that felt the most natural, as well as created a nice flow and an album you can play top to bottom. We really spent a lot of time jamming the songs and trying them at live shows, to make sure that the arrangements we came up with had that authentic feel, but felt fresh.

Take one listen to Shawn James’ music and you can hear his roots in the Mississippi delta by way of growing up on the fabled South Side of Chicago, his authentic, gutbucket blend of blues, folk, and soul music running the gamut of ecstatic joy and painful anguish.

Modal and Eastern Jazz by Spiritual Jazz maestro Lloyd Miller, originally issued in a run of 500 copies in 1967. This reissue – the first in a series focusing on Miller’s catalog on Now-Again – was overseen by Miller and pressed from new stampers made from the original metal parts. Contains an extensive booklet detailing Miller’s amazing life in jazz and his worldwide travels by jazz historian Francis Goding. Also includes a download card for WAV files of the album and video of late 60s performances.
