Snake Skin is the musical project that the genius mind behind the gothic metal/rock opera of Lacrimosa, Tilo Wolff, formed when he felt the need to express himself in a different way. The orchestral moments are present and, of course, they couldn't be missing from the music of Snake Skin, but there is no way someone can say that they remind of Lacrimosa, only a bit in some moments…

There is something special about two musicians in unison. Solo artists bear the brunt of pretty much everything – be it success or failure, joy or misery, it is all on their shoulders. Groups, meanwhile, are mostly perceived as ideal examples of democracy, when the reality is that they are governed by a benign dictator (if lucky) or a cruel despot (if not). Duos, on the other hand, are clearly in tune (and harmony) with themselves and each other.

This is the strange and mysterious tale of Caravaggio's Nativity with St Francis and St Lawrence (also known as The Adoration). Painted in the early 17th century, it was stolen from the Oratory of San Lorenzo in Palermo, Italy in 1969 and hasn't been seen in public since. Now, leading art laboratory and workshop Factum Arte aims to replace the stolen artwork by creating an exact replica via a sophisticated 3D printing technique. This film follows this fascinating journey as experts hope to fill the picture frame that has hung empty in the oratory for the last 47 years and present the Sicilian town with the next best thing to its original masterpiece.

Archive release from the rock/pop icon. Dion had an album ready for release at Columbia in 1965, but it never made it out of the gate until now! Recorded fifty-two years ago, it is as atom-smashing now as it was when Dion rolled tape with producer Tom Wilson at Columbia Studios in '65. Why was this album pulled from release and shelved? For that story, you'll have to consult Scott Kempner's illuminating liner notes here. Dion would be back on the Laurie label again a few years later, but this Columbia recording captures the doo-wop icon in a mid-'60s folk-rock state of mind, doing Bob Dylan's "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue," "Farewell" and "Baby I'm in the Mood for You" plus Tom Paxton's "I Can't Help but Wonder Where I'm Bound" and the original songs "Kickin' Child" (co-written with Buddy Lucas and released as a single in '65), "Now" (featuring Al Kooper), "My Love," "Wake Up Baby," "Knowing I Won't Go Back There" and more (several of these songs were released on prior outtakes collections and retrospectives, some with different orchestrations). This is the first time that all these tracks are being issued together as the originally intended Dion album. A lost chapter in the epic story of this legendary rock 'n' roller from the Bronx finally surfaces, some 52 years later.

British band Paradise Lost has a knack for producing dark and moody, yet very accessible metal. And that's exactly what they do on Believe in Nothing, serving up a bunch of tracks that could appeal to a wide range of music fans. Tight and melodic, "Mouth" is an excellent example of how to write a chart-topping rock song. In fact, almost exactly the same thing could be said about "Fader" and "Illumination." "Look at Me Now" is also a noteworthy tune, but probably a little too easy on the ear and thus lacking staying power. The suitably sullen "Never Again," on the other hand, gets better with each spin. In the end, Believe in Nothing doesn't quite scale the same heights as a couple of the band's previous releases, such as Shades of God and One Second…

"Wild Boy…" is a reissue of the well-known 2016 release curated by Brian Chidester, renowned researcher and biographer of Eden ahbez. Especially for this album, Brian wrote an interesting text about ahbez's life, which definitely became the decoration of the release. With the new 2020 re-release, we went a little further and kept what is commonly referred to as studio cuts. It’s a few more minutes in the studio with ahbez himself, full of emotion and life. In addition, to the delight of fans, the edition includes an additional composition Nature Boy (Mantovani Orchestra).

Composer and pianist Carla Bley has been very consistent, if not exactly prolific, for most of her 40 years in jazz. When she and bassist/life partner Steve Swallow hired British saxophonist Andy Sheppard – then one of his country's young lions as both a composer and as a reedman – in 1989, they hired him on and he's been with the group ever since. The recorded evidence was heard on Sheppard's first appearance with Bley on the utterly beguiling Fleur Carnivore, and later on the fine trio recording Songs with Legs in 1995. Drummer Billy Drummond joined the unit as a permanent member in the early part of this century, and on 2004's Lost Chords debut, locked in with a unit that seemed to be evenly weighted all around.

If South Africa were a cat, it would be rapidly running out of its nine lives. In 2024, voters sent a clear signal to the fractured ANC that they had run out of patience. It lost its majority and was forced to enter a difficult multi-party coalition.
