Il a fallu à Strup dix ans pour retrouver le chemin de la Terre -Mère. Cette Odyssée astrale a inspiré aux laborantins un album-concept boulversé. Les 10 titres de ce voyage homérique sont façonnés par les errances, les soubresauts de ce « retour à Ithaque » moderne. En faisant le point dans l’immensité galactique, ces Ulysses ont captés les ondes 90’s de Brighton (Massive Attack, Tricky) et les ont insérées à leur A.D.N. « Electro-Prog-Rock ». Optimiste et solaire, le périple pop se durcit à l’approche de notre planète. Les turbulences de l’entrée atmosphérique se font sentir. Le vaisseau Strup est en approche !!

Last Place, is the new album from Grandaddy: Jason Lyte (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Kevin Garcia (bass guitar), Aaron Burtch (drums), Jim Fairchild (guitar), and Tim Dreyden (keyboards). The band formed in Modesto, CA in 1992, and after four albums disbanded in 2006. Jason Lytle relocated to Montana, where he happily made two solo albums, and reconnected with the natural world around him. Eventually, though, life uprooted him again, taking him to Portland, Oregon until he eventually returned to his former home of Modesto. The return to California was practical (he needed to be near his bandmates) but also appropriate, as he had started writing songs that he felt would be fitting for another Grandaddy album. Following a second reunion tour in the summer of 2016, the band announced the new album would be released on Danger Mouse's 30th Century Records along with releasing a video for the single, "Way We Won't."

So, Cold Dark Place is actually a thing! Back, when Mastodon were writing Emperor of Sand, there was talk about a double album, with the second half being written entirely by Brent Hinds. That obviously didn't happen, as EoS ended up being a single record. Then, in the best interview ever made (check it out below), Brent said an album called "Cold Dark Place" will be released "on Record Store Day in June". The record is supposedly about a "nasty breakup". Brent described it as "pretty dark, beautiful, spooky, funky, ethereal, melancholy music, which also sounds like the Bee Gees a little bit."

Austin-based quartet Alex Napping draws from the deeply personal and the sonically groovy to create storytelling with a beat. Rattlemouth is Richmond, Virginia's band. Featuring the saxophones of Danny Finney, the angular rhythm section of Robbie Kinter (drums) and Wayne O'Bryan (bass), and the guitar of Stephen Williams. The sax and bass are dominating here, going berserk at times, and more subtle in other instances. Sometimes going more towards jazz-rock, and in other tracks towards a more disjointed and adventurous path. Comparisons have been made to French RIO band Etron Fou. The music has a kind of groovy feel to it; maybe not music to dance to, but definitely music to move to and enjoy.
