This Fool

Fool's Mate is the debut solo album by Peter Hammill of progressive rock band Van der Graaf Generator. The title is both a chess and tarot reference. It was produced by Trident Studios' in-house producer John Anthony. The album was recorded in 1971, in the midst of one of Van der Graaf Generator's most prolific periods. Hammill used the album to record a backlog of songs which were much shorter and simpler than his Van der Graaf Generator material, and declared on the original album sleeve: "This isn't intended to be any kind of statement of my present musical position, but at the same time, it is an album which involves a great deal of me, the person, basically a return to the roots." In 2005 the album was issued in remastered form by EMI Virgin Records, supplemented with bonus demo recordings of several songs.

James Allsopp leads on a third set of standards with the established rhythm section of Tim Giles, Riaan Vosloo & Ross Stanley.

Building on the foundation set forth by his previous critically-acclaimed release A Hundred White Lies, singer, songwriter and guitarist Shane Dwight once again calls upon the expertise of Grammy Award-winning producer Kevin McKendree for his Eclecto Groove Records debut. This House finds Dwight maintaining his blues-based roots, while also allowing for the influences of his current Nashville surroundings to seep into his music. Dwight is joined by special guest vocalist Bekka Bramlett (daughter of Delaney and Bonnie), along with a cast of Nashville's finest, including members of John Hiatt and Delbert McClinton's recording and touring bands.

"Fool's Gold" is the debut instrumental album by guitarist Randy McGravey. This album is a culmination of years of instrumental music that never ended up being used for bands. Progressive rock songs, instrumental jams and acoustic compositions combine to make this a unique album with a wide sonic range. Side one of the album focuses on electric guitar and brings a lot of up-tempo energy, while side two is more mellow with a focus on acoustic guitars. The Main Ingredient were one of the best smooth soul groups of the early '70s, but they've never been given much respect in terms of CD retrospectives. They were given two comps in 1990 – Collectables' good but cheap Golden Classics and RCA's lengthier All Time Greatest Hits, which had more tunes but bad sound – and in 1996 RCA issued Quiet Storm, a collection of their romantic ballads, but the group still needed a well-produced, remastered collection of their biggest hits.

King for a Day… Fool for a Lifetime is the fifth studio album by San Francisco-based band Faith No More, released on March 28, 1995. It was their first album recorded without longtime guitarist Jim Martin. The album showcased a greater variety than the band's usual heavy metal leanings, with Rolling Stone calling the result a "genre shuffle". The album spawned three singles—"Digging the Grave", "Ricochet" and "Evidence". Following Martin's departure, Trey Spruance was brought on to perform on the album, having also been in Mr. Bungle with singer Mike Patton. Production of the album was further marred by the band suffering a car accident, and by the absence of keyboard player Roddy Bottum, who was affected by the deaths of both his father and Kurt Cobain, whose wife was his close friend.
