Fifth Avenue is a modern jazz group formed by five young Finnish musicians. They represent the top-notch of their generation in the Finnish mainstream jazz scene. The sound of the album has been influenced heavily by the spirit of New York City, where it was mixed and mastered by the legendary Dave Darlington at the Bass Hit Studios. New York famously being the ultimate melting pot of different nationalities and cultures, the group Fifth Avenue brings greetings from the Nordic wilderness to the urban atmosphere of the Big Apple. This combination comes beautifully together in their strong debut release “Tales", an unique and intriguing collection of acoustic jazz. It features original compositions by three members of the group, New York based guitarist Olli Hirvonen, pianist Tuomas J. Turunen and saxophonist Ville Vannemaa. The songs are inspired by everyday life, spiced up with interesting instrumental solos as well as inventive accompaniment by the rhythm section.”

In its original vinyl form, Dr. Z's Three Parts to My Soul rates among the most valuable British prog albums of all time. But it is a rarity among such rarities in that it is also as good as a high three-figure value leaves you hoping it would be. Dr. Z was discovered by Nirvana UK frontman Patrick Campbell-Lyons, who is also credited as executive producer on the album…

One of the finest trombonists to emerge from the bebop era, Kai Winding was always to an extent overshadowed by J.J. Johnson, although they co-led one of the most popular jazz groups of the mid-'50s. Born in Denmark, Winding emigrated to the U.S. with his family when he was 12. He had short stints with the orchestras of Alvino Rey and Sonny Dunham, and played in a service band in the Coast Guard for three years. Winding's first burst of fame occurred during his year with Stan Kenton's Orchestra (1946-1947), during which his phrasing influenced and was adopted by the other trombonists, leading to a permanent change in the Kenton sound. He also participated in some early bop sessions, played with Tadd Dameron (1948-1949), and was on one of the Miles Davis' nonet's famous recording sessions…

One can't venture very far into contemporary pop without hearing the echoes of '70s-'80's soul, funk and r&b; decades once mocked have seen their vibrant, groove-savvy music re-embraced – often without a trace of kitsch-savvy irony. This triple-disc, 58 track collection may come anthologized with a slightly cheesy conceit–retro-party-soundtrack-in-a-box, with discs devoted to flavoring your soulful soiree's beginning, middle and end–but its potent collection of vintage, era-evoking favorites can't be denied. Disc one/"Kickin' It Off" wends its way from expected jams like Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music" and Gap Band's "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" through such funk-fueled grooves as James Brown's sweaty "Payback" and Donna Summer's urgent, torch-song-with-a beat "Last Dance." Disc two/"Getting' Into the Groove" does just that via Top 40 stalwarts like The Spinners, Four Tops and O'Jays, while making room for legends (Al Green, Isley Brothers) and newcomers like the Brothers Johnson and Kool & the Gang alike. The set's final act winds down into late-night sultriness via Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Heraling," Delfonics' "Didn't I Blow Your Mind," Pointer Sister's "Slow Hand" and other sexy charms.

A trio of truly awful, softcore, psuedo-bondage/action films starring the overly blonde Cheri Caffaro (who once won a Bardot look-alike contest). For those of you who thought to yourselves, "Hey, there just aren't enough tits or handcuffs in those Bond films", then these are the movies for you.

'The American Dream' was Bear Family's complete edition of Ricky Nelson's Verve and Imperial recordings from 1957-1962. The story ended when he left Imperial Records at the end of '62. During those five years, he was among the top-selling record stars… up there with Elvis and Pat Boone. We pick up the story in 1963 when he signed an unprecedentedly lucrative contract with Decca Records. It was the most challenging period of Rick's career. The family sitcom, 'The Adventures Of Ozzie & Harriett,' was winding down and Ricky Nelson had to carve out his own future as a musician. After a few hits reviving standards like For You and Fools Rush In, Ricky Nelson completely reinvented his music… and along the way he made the first and some say the greatest country rock records.

The quintessential Tex-Mex band of the 1960s, Sam The Sham And The Pharaohs hailed from Dallas, Texas where Domingo "Sam" Samudio was born in 1937 and raised. After chart success eluded them after recording Haunted House for the Dingo label in 1965 they landed a contract with MGM Records, home of such rock 'n' roll artists as Roy Orbison, The Animals, and Herman's Hermits.

2017 three CD set. One of RPM Records defining releases remains the Dream Babes series, the Brit Girl Sound collections which started in 1994 and ran until 2007 reaching volume 8. The scene for collecting such sounds has only grown bigger and more international since then. Now it is time for RPM's concluding word on the subject of it's own series with this set. 80 tracks, none duplicated from the DB series, many tracks fresh to CD, five tracks previously unreleased. Compiled with much learned, many archive tapes unearthed, and recordings dug from crates since the series last volume. Spanning the full spectrum of the scene, known for it's gratifying diversity, the box set offers slick originals and intriguing covers, from early girls to late girls, beat girls, folk girls, hippy girls and mod girls. Here, you'll also find the brash teeners, the raw belters, the wistful balladeers, the brassy pub singers, the breathy harmonizers and the bluesy shouters. There are Essex girls, lasses from Lancashire, Glasgwegians and hey there Geordie girls, Chelsea debs and daughters of Cardiff and Coventry, Stoke and Southend. The Commonwealth gets a nod too, with Kiwi gals and Caribbean queens. Not forgetting Schoolgirls and secretaries, convent girls and actresses, daughters of diplomats, god-daughters of royalty and stars before they were stars.
