Time Fades Away

By 1976 Neil Young had already created a body of work that most songwriters would cut off both arms and legs to have composed. But Young had merely completed another phase of his career and was ready to start the next. This film tells the story and reviews the music of Neil from the release of his stunning Zuma album at the end of 1975 up to the release of the well received Prairie Wind in 2005 - a 30 year period during which this maverick musician covered just about every style in existence.

After Neil Young left the California folk-rock band Buffalo Springfield in 1968, he slowly established himself as one of the most influential and idiosyncratic singer/songwriters of his generation. Young's body of work ranks second only to Bob Dylan in terms of depth, and he was able to sustain his critical reputation, as well as record sales, for a longer period of time than Dylan, partially because of his willfully perverse work ethic.

Kerrs Pink was one of the leading bands of the Norwegian folk-rock movement during the early 80's, their style has often been compared to the mellow and gentle style of Camel along with traditional folk influences and they have a very comforting and melodic style to their songs. The deluxe edition box set of Archives Volume II: 1972-1976 contains 10 CDs with 131 tracks, including 12 songs that have never been released in any form, and 49 new unreleased versions of Young’s classics—studio and live recordings, both solo and with Crazy Horse (Odeon Budokan), The Stray Gators (Tuscaloosa), the Santa Monica Flyers (Roxy: Tonight's the Night Live), Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and The Stills Young Band.

After literally years of rumours and promises Neil Young has announced firm release date for the second volume of his Archives series and made available a full track listing. The ten-disc set features 12 songs that have never been released before and 50 previously unreleased versions of songs. The discs are themed into eras (the 1974 disc, which features On The Beach material, is called Walk On, for example) and three discs have been previously released in their entirety (Roxy: Tonight’s The Night Live, Tuscaloosa and Homegrown).
