Tom and Jerry was created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, considered by many the greatest cartoonists in the history. This show has managed to become one of the most famous and influential shows in the history of cartoons.

The title is a reference to the traditional green cloth (or baize) of a pool table being reminiscent of American currency notes. The Color of Money is a 1984 novel by American writer Walter Tevis, and a 1986 film semi-adaptation by the same title, continuing the story of pool hustler and stakehorse Edward "Fast Eddie" Felson, with Paul Newman reprising his role from the The Hustler (1959) and its film adaptation (1961). The sequel novel and film share as their premise the continuation of Felson's story at a point more than 20 years after the events depicted in The Hustler, and with Eddie not having been active on the pool circuit during that time. But aside from this and the title, they have little in common. Although Tevis did author a screenplay for The Color of Money that was based on his novel, the filmmakers ultimately decided not to use Tevis's story at all, and instead crafted an entirely different one for the movie,one with a large number of plot-point similarities to the earlier 1980 pool comedy, The Baltimore Bullet. In addition to Newman, the film also stars Tom Cruise as Fast Eddie's protege and rival Vincent Lauria, plus Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Helen Shaver and John Turturro. The screenplay was written by Richard Price, and the film was directed by Martin Scorsese, featuring an original score by Robbie Robertson.

Rain Man is a 1988 film written by Barry Morrow and Ronald Bass and directed by Barry Levinson. It tells the story of an abrasive and selfish yuppie, Charlie Babbitt, who discovers that his estranged father has died and bequeathed all of his multimillion-dollar estate to his other son, Raymond, a man with autism of whose existence Charlie was unaware. The film stars Tom Cruise as Charlie Babbitt, Dustin Hoffman as Raymond Babbitt, and Valeria Golino as Charlie's girlfriend, Susanna. Morrow created the character of Raymond after meeting Kim Peek, a real-life savant; his characterization was based on both Peek and Bill Sackter, a good friend of Morrow who was the subject of Bill, an earlier film that Morrow wrote. Rain Man received overwhelmingly positive reviews at the time of its release, praising Hoffman's role and the wit and sophistication of the screenplay. The film won four Oscars at the 61st Academy Awards (March 1989), including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Actor in a leading role for Hoffman. Its crew received an additional four nominations.

Charles Sanford "Charlie" Babbit is a self-centered Los Angeles-based automobile dealer who is at war with his own life. He learns that his estranged father died and left him from his last will and testament a huge bed of roses and the car while the remainder will of $3 Million goes into a trust fund to be distributed to someone. Charlie seemed pretty angry by this and decides to look into this matter. It seems as if that "someone" is Raymond, Charlie's unknown brother, an autistic savant who lives in a world of his own, resides at the Walbrook Institute.
