On Long Hard Ride, The Marshall Tucker Band's country influences come to the fore, resulting in a strong record that failed to gain many hits. Still, the final product is well worth listening to – it's one of their better releases. Be sure to listen for Charlie Daniels' guest appearance.

1978's 'Together Forever' is quite simply the most refined album in the MTB discography retaining all the virtues of the earlier albums, yet having the cleanest sound, best engineering, top notch production, phenominal guitar playing and songwriting by Toy Caldwell, and solid, skilled vocals by Doug Gray.

Carolina Dreams marks a retreat from the more pronounced country leanings of Long Hard Ride to the more successful country-tinged pop-rock of "Heard It In a Love Song" and "Fly Like an Eagle." They gathered more hits with this approach, and although the hits hold up well, the rest of the album doesn't live up to their quality. ~Allmusic

Vintage Music is a compilation series released by MCA Records in 1986. There were 10 volumes when released on vinyl and cassette but the compact disc versions put together two at a time, so there was a total of five CD's in the series: 1 & 2, 3 & 4, and so on. This series was remastered by Steve Hoffman from the best available master recordings, with a few songs taken from versions that had not been heard before. Notable is the version of Steppenwolf's "Born To Be Wild" used here.

The argument will forever rage, but Memphis, Tennessee, is as much the fountainhead of rock ’n’ roll as is Cleveland, Ohio. Whilst the north had Alan Freed as its turntable champion, the south was blessed with the madcap deejay, Dewey Phillips. Chances are, ole Dewey would have played most of the 75 titles that go to make up Raunchy Sugar on his Red Hot and Blue show that aired over WHBQ in Memphis. During the 1950s the city was alive with labels, record hops, musicians and the general chaos that goes hand in hand with the big beat. The geographical lie of the land helped a great deal, because the city was central to so many rural areas that harboured musical talent and style. Carl Perkins and Carl Mann gravitated to the area from Jackson, Tennessee, Billy Riley and Conway Twitty did the same from Arkansas, and Elvis Presley hit the trail from Mississippi in order to soak up some of that unique Shelby County action. Outside of Sam Phillips’ legendary Sun Records, the labels included such names as Hi, Cover, Fernwood, Meteor, Vaden Moon and Satellite.

Four CD set. While the recordings on Eddie Piller's latest release may be familiar to diehard fans of great '60s music, the story behind it will be new to many, but is well worth telling and hearing all the same. A lot of youngsters fell in love with the Mod lifestyle during the revival at the end of the '70s, but the more inquisitive ones like Eddie wanted to know more about the original fashions, the original influential figures, and most of all the original music. Step forward one Randy Cozens, eager to give the benefit of his advice. In those pre-internet days, his platform of choice was the letter pages of the weekly music press. His enthusiasm, his passion, and the sheer volume of missives he posted persuaded Sounds to commission Randy's guide to the music that was played in the all-nighter clubs in London's West End in those early '60s halcyon days.

UK three CD set. Following the demise of The Sex Pistols, Malcolm McLaren formed Bow Wow Wow in 1980 from former members of Adam And The Ants and a 14-year-old Myint Myint Aye (Burmese for "High High Cool"), who was spotted singing while working a Saturday job at her local dry cleaners, and soon renamed Annabella Lwin. Bow Wow Wow found early success with their Burundi-style drumming, pop melodies, surf instrumentals and Annabella Lwin's screams, chants and girlish squeals. But their notoriety soared due to the controversy surrounding Lwin's age, and the fact that she was featured naked on the band's first LP in 1981. Soon to be touring the States and opening for bands of the likes of the Pretenders and the Police, Bow Wow Wow soon released a plethora of singles, many of which came in numerous formats including cassettes, 7 inches, 12 inches and flexi-discs, with many containing alternative versions, b-sides, and remixes - all of which are included here on Your Box Set Pet: The Complete Recordings 1981-1984. Contains the albums See Jungle! See Jungle! Go Join Your Gang Yeah, City All Over! Go Ape Crazy! (1981), When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going (1983), the EP Your Cassette Pet (1980), plus all of the band's singles, b-sides, remixes and rarities.
