The impetus for Tony Banks (Genesis) new orchestral album Five was a commission for the 70th Cheltenham Music Festival in 2014, for which Banks composed the original version of what now appears as the opening track of the new recording, Prelude to a Million Years. Then it was entitled Arpegg and received its world première on Saturday 5 July 2014 with Maxime Tortelier conducting the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra

Featuring both progressive and pop leanings, this solo album from Genesis keysman Tony Banks is a strong effort. There are some wonderful moments here, and no real throwaway tracks. Musically, it runs the gamut from a new wave sort of pop sound to more prog-ish textures of Genesis and Marillion and even a take on a Pat Benatar sort of sound. Banks is joined on the album by Jayney Kilmek (Alphaville, Tangerine Dream), Daryl Struermer, Pino Palladino, Luis Jardim (Frankie Goes to Hollywood, ABC), Nik Kershaw, James Eller, Graham Broad, Vinnie Colaiuta (Frank Zappa, Allan Holdsworth), Martin Robertson, Andy Taylor, and Fish.

Inner Prospekt is a sensational solo project by Mad Crayon's keyboard master Alessandro di Benedetti, in a style that is more electronic oriented that Italian prog (RPI) but offers up some incredibly interesting tracks that are modern, fresh and yet infused with a vast amount of soling in a style that is reminiscent of, yes, you guessed it, Tony Banks! In fact, Inner Prospekt sounds a lot like cross between electronic composers William Orbit, Richard Kirk and Banco di Gaia with the added component of frequent piano, organ and synthesizer soloing in the style of the venerable Genesis maestro…

Genesis keyboardist Tony Banks has made several stabs at a solo career since 1978, writing and recording in various styles and occasionally under different group names. However, none of his attempts have been very commercially successful, a sore point for the man many deem responsible for a large portion of the Genesis sound. For many observers, Banks is one of the more undeservedly underrated keyboard players in progressive rock while flashier figures such as Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman. Immense 48-track collection of material off solo albums, soundtracks and orchestral scores from their keyboardist, spanning 1979 to 2012! Includes four previously-unreleased songs.

"Foxtrot" is the 4th studio album by the English progressive rock band Genesis, released on 6 October 1972 on Charisma Records. It features their longest recorded song, the 23-minute track "Supper's Ready". The album was recorded following the tour in support of their previous album, "Nursery Cryme" (1971), which saw them gain popularity, including a well-received slot at the Great Western Express Festival, Lincolnshire in May 1972. The album was written over the summer of 1972 and combined songs that had already been performed live with new material worked out in jam sessions. Recording began in August with John Anthony, but sessions were prone to tension and disagreements. "Foxtrot" was the 1st Genesis album to chart in the UK, reaching #12, and received largely positive reviews. It went to #1 in Italy, their first album reaching #1 globally. A non-album single "Happy The Man" was released at the same time.

Abacab is the first Genesis album recorded at The Farm, a recording studio bought by the group in Chiddingfold, Surrey. It marked the band's development from their progressive roots into more accessible and pop-oriented songs, and their conscious decision to write songs unlike their previous albums. "Abacab" received a mostly positive reception from critics and was a commercial success for the band, reaching #1 on the UK Albums Chart and #7 on the US Billboard 200.
