The weakest album from Iron Maiden's classic ‘80s period, Somewhere in Time is really the first true disappointment in their catalog, too often collapsing under the weight of their now-trademark ambition. Though it sold well on the heels of the hugely successful Powerslave tour, and is often regarded as underrated by Maiden devotees, it clearly finds the band struggling to refresh what was rapidly hardening into formula…

Under the Blade is the debut studio album by American heavy metal band Twisted Sister, released on Secret Records on September 18, 1982. It featured a very brutal and rough sound which was eventually totally ignored on a remixed re-release by Atlantic Records on July 14, 1985. The re-release also added a remixed version of the song "I'll Never Grow Up, Now", the band's long forgotten 1979 single. The Atlantic Records release was both a try to emphasize on the commercial success of Stay Hungry and, by then (and for years to come) the only official way to get the album as Secret Records were no more. However, bootlegs with the original mix were still in circulation. On May 31, 2011, Eagle Records re-released Under the Blade in a digital remastered form with the original mix finally restored. Under the Blade has sold over two million copies worldwide. In 2005, Under the Blade was ranked number 387 in Rock Hard magazine's book of The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time.

Starship is an American rock band established in 1985. Although a continuation of Jefferson Starship, its change in musical direction, loss of key Jefferson Starship personnel, and name change sparked a new identity. Love Among the Cannibals is the third album released in 1989 by rock band Starship. It was the first album after Grace Slick's departure from the band, and their last full-length studio release until Loveless Fascination in 2013. The song "Wild Again" had previously been produced for the soundtrack to Cocktail (1988), and was included as a bonus track for the album's CD release. The album had one top 20 single on the Billboard charts, "It's Not Enough", which peaked at No. 12 in October 1989 and was their final Top-40 hit, but the album itself only climbed to No. 64. The track "I'll Be There" went on to being featured in the end credits of Gross Anatomy (1989).

A product of New York City's early '70s glam rock scene, Twisted Sister were eager students of the New York Dolls, with Kiss's theatrics, Slade's pop acumen, and the shock rock of Alice Cooper tossed in for good measure. Based out of Long Island and featuring the core lineup of vocalist Dee Snider, guitarists Jay Jay French and Eddie "Fingers" Ojeda, bassist Mark "The Animal" Mendoza, and drummer A.J. Pero, the group issued two critically acclaimed, under-the-radar efforts before breaking into the mainstream in 1984 with "Stay Hungry". The LP went multi-platinum on the strength of the monster singles "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock". Twisted Sister released two more albums before ceasing operations in 1988…

"Jump to It" is the twenty-eighth studio album by American singer Aretha Franklin, produced by Luther Vandross and released in July 1982. This album gave Franklin her tenth #1 R&B album - at the time it was the all-time record. It enjoyed a seven-week run at #1 on Billboard's R&B albums chart and also reached #23 on Billboard's main album chart. It was hailed as a comeback album, given that it provided Franklin with her first Gold-certified disc and Top 40 song since "Sparkle" in 1976. The title track, "Jump to It", was Franklin's first Pop Top 40 hit since 1976, and her first #1 R&B hit since 1977's "Break It To Me Gently". The infectious song was nominated for a Grammy Award. The album itself received an American Music Award for Best Soul Album in 1983.
