Toto XIV is the 13th studio album by the American rock band Toto, released on March 20, 2015. The album marks the return of Joseph Williams on lead vocals, Steve Porcaro on keyboards, and David Hungate on bass. Toto XIV is the first album with Keith Carlock on drums, replacing the long standing drummer Simon Phillips. Toto XIV is the band's first album of new material since 2006 s Falling In Between. However, the band personally considers the new album to be the true follow-up to Toto IV, which made the band global superstars. The album is a realized vision three plus decades in the making, exhibiting world-class musicianship, masterful arrangements, topical lyrical commentary, and melodies that the collective genius of Lukather, Paich, Porcaro, Williams and their assembled band-mates bring to life…

Toto were formed in LA in the late 70’s by a group of friends who were all much in demand session musicians. They went on to epitomize the classic American pop/rock sound of the 80’s and 90’s with hit albums and singles including Hold The Line, Africa, I’ll Be Over You and the multi-Grammy winning worldwide hit Rosanna. This concert was recorded at Le Zenith in Paris in March 2007 in front of a wildly enthusiastic sell-out crowd. It captures the band rocking at their hardest and most powerful and giving a new life to all their best loved tracks.

The performance captures one special night on November 21, 2020 when Steve Lukather, Joseph Williams and David Paich appeared with the new line-up of TOTO for a global event originating from Los Angeles, CA. Joining Lukather, Williams and Paich for this next chapter in their indelible history are new band members bassist John Pierce (Huey Lewis and The News), drummer Robert “Sput” Searight (Ghost-Note / Snarky Puppy), and keyboardist / background vocalist Steve Maggiora (Robert Jon & The Wreck)…

The set also includes a previously unreleased Live In Tokyo EP from their 1980 tour, along with an album titled Old Is New. The Old Is New LP features ten tracks, seven are previously unreleased along with “Spanish Sea,” “Alone” and “Struck By Lighting” which are featured on the band’s new greatest hits collection 40 Trips Around The Sun. All of the music in the box set was personally remastered by TOTO along with Elliot Scheiner.

Rosanna: The Very Best of Toto is a strange, hastily assembled, budget-priced box set that boasts three discs and 41 tracks, yet somehow manages to omit "Africa," which alongside "Rosanna" and "Hold the Line," ranks as one of the band's most recognizable hits. Kudos for including the excellent and underrated "Take My Hand" from the Dune soundtrack, though. Listeners would be much better off with 2009's ample Africa: The Best of Toto or its streamlined cousin Playlist: The Very Best of Toto.

The 2009 compilation Africa: The Best of Toto is a double-disc set that contains all of Toto's big hits – "Africa", "Rosanna", "Hold the Line", "I Won't Hold You Back", "99", "Georgy Porgy" – and a bunch of album tracks. This is too much for most casual fans, the kind who just want the aforementioned hits, but for those who want to dig a little deeper this is a good, affordable way to do so.
