Trilian Bas

It's stretching the conventional, technical definition of the term to call Swiss composer Michael Jarrell's spoken monodrama Cassandre an opera, but that's the composer's description of it, and as such, it ought to be respected. It does consist of a musical narrative accompanying a verbal narrative, so even though it doesn't involve singing, it comes closer to standard opera than some pieces that are so designated.

The CD is something of a mosaic of pieces which were known to be an important part of the dance repertoire of the high society of the Italian Quatrocento.

La démarche est subjective, mais il faut bien avouer que le résultat est fort convaincant. S'éloignant de tout dogme ou de toute considération scolastique pure, les interprètes ont choisi de restituer cette musique de manière plaisante, simple, dansante, sans excès de fioritures, avec des combinaisons instrumentales fort agréables, voire inhabituelles et très belles – l'usage des cuivres mélodiques est fort bien venu. Mieux qu'ici-bas is francophone Canadian pop singer Isabelle Boulay's third studio album, released in September, 2000. It was led by the hit single "Parle-moi" which was released about the same time. The album achieved a great success in Belgium (Wallonia) and France, where it reached the top ten and stayed on the chart for about two years.
