Since Vladimir Putin launched the invasion of Ukraine a year ago, many British nationals have travelled there to fight. Some have prior military experience, others have none; but all are inspired by the idea that they are making a difference.

In March 2022, with Russian tanks still surrounding Kyiv, veteran photojournalist David Pratt travels to Ukraine along with documentary maker Robbie Fraser.

A group of Ukrainian refugee actors living in the UK prepare to premier a brand new play as part of Liverpool’s ‘Eurovision Festival’. ‘Maria’ tells the story of one woman’s journey from birth to death through the Soviet engineered famine of the 1930’s that left millions dead. Documenting the creative process in their new environment here in the UK, the cast – all well known actors in their home country – recount their own powerful stories of loss and overcoming the odds, in a moving documentary filmed over the course of a month of rehearsals and performance.
