Stéphane Audran plays the title character, Hélène Desvallées, the bored wife of insurance executive Charles Desvallées… (Michel Bouquet). Charles suspects Hélène of playing the field, so he has a private detective locate his wife's lover, author Victor Pegala (Maurice Ronet). Confronting Victor, Charles tries to adopt an air of indifference, but the conversation ends with the husband bludgeoning the author to death and then calmly disposing of the evidence. When Hélène is questioned about Victor's murder, she discovers on her own that her husband is guilty. Instead of turning him in, Hélène is so thrilled that Charles cares so deeply about her that she is more in love with him than ever before. The Unfaithful Wife was directed by Claude Chabrol, the then real-life husband of leading lady Stéphane Audran.

Connie Sumner (Diane Lane) a tout pour être heureuse : un mari aimant et qui a professionnellement réussi (Richard Gere) avec qui elle a déjà vécu 11 ans de mariage, un fils adorable et une spacieuse maison dans une banlieue cossue et tranquille de New York. Lors d'une journée venteuse à Manhattan, elle tombe et se blesse au genou. Elle est secourue par un jeune français, Paul Martel (Olivier Martinez), marchand de livres anciens, qui la soigne. D'abord fidèle à son mari, elle résiste au charme masculin du séducteur. Mais entre désir et remords, elle cède finalement au désir et commet l'irréparable. Son mari, Edward, remarque les petits changements dans les habitudes de sa femme, et commence à se douter de ce qui se passe. Après avoir loué les services d'un détective, les photos de sa femme prise sur le fait avec son amant confirment ses doutes. Au moment où Connie, prise de culpabilité et se rendant compte qu'elle est en train de briser le bonheur de sa famille, décide de mettre un terme à sa relation secrète, Edward rend visite à l'amant de sa femme…

Chicago, circa 1927. Naive Roxie Hart visits a nightclub where star Velma Kelly performs ("Overture/All That Jazz") with Fred Casely, whom she is having an affair with in the hope that he will get her a gig as a vaudeville star. After the show, Velma is arrested for murdering her adulterous husband and sister, Veronica, after finding them in bed together. A month later, following another "date", Fred reveals that he lied about his connections in show business and he only wants Roxie for sex, and after Fred dismisses Roxie's chances for success in show business, she grabs a gun off her dresser and shoots Fred three times. She then tries to make her husband Amos - who is even more naive than she - take the fall ("Funny Honey"). The police - and Amos, realizing she has been unfaithful to him - see through her ruse and Roxie is arrested and sent to the Cook County Jail.

A Chicago, dans les années vingt, Roxie Hart, une jeune femme qui rêve de monter sur la scène de l'Onyx Club, est accusée du meurtre de son amant indélicat et envoyée en prison. Le très populaire avocat Billy Flynn va brillamment plaider leur cause et attirer l'attention des médias sur ces deux jeunes femmes à la superbe voix. Hot models and sexy high fashion glamour are all a part of TAYLOR KENT'S life. She's designing a new lingerie line that she hopes will rock the fashion world.
