An accomplished versatile virtuoso baritone saxophone player, Chicago native Dave Schumacher has been a mainstay on the New York jazz scene for more than forty years. His big, bold baritone first came to international attention during the eighties, spending much of those years touring the world with Lionel Hampton’s Orchestra. Schumacher garnered further notice following that with nearly two decades as a member of the orchestra of Harry Connick, Jr. In the 90's he also toured with T.S. Monk’s Monk on Monk band and the Tom Harrell Octet, as well as freelance work with many others in New York and on the road.

After the triumphs of their first four albums, all hailed as comedy gems, Cheech and Chong’s act began to stale. In 1975 instead of a new album they issued a single to ride the “Jaws” film phenomenon – “(How I Spent My Summer Vacation) Or A Day At The Beach With Pedro And Man.” The single peaked at #15 on the Billboard singles chart. Fans had to wait until 1976 for the next stoner comedy fix. “Sleeping Beauty” was the uneven album the duo delivered. While it reached #25 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart, it remained on the charts only 13 weeks. It was a sign of things to come.

They consisted of Mick Rowley (lead vocals) (born Michael Rowley, 29 June 1946, Scarborough, Yorkshire), Mal Luker (lead guitar) (born Malcom Luker, 3 March 1946, New Delhi, India), "Zeke" Lund (bass) (born John Lund, 13 November 1945, York, Yorkshire) and Geoff Gill (drums) (born Geoffrey Robert Gill, 15 May 1949, York). Lund went on to be a sound engineer for Boney M., who recorded "My Friend Jack".
