I've heard about Javier Vargas for a few years now, and my first real introduction to him was a live CD that I was able to obtain a couple months back. Since then I've been able to locate several other CD's that's he's recorded over the last few years. "Gipsy Boogie" is a different CD from the previous one's that I've obtained. While most of the others were solidly into Texas style blues overall, this CD strays in style to a more latin flavored blues. Think Texas blues mixed with Carlos Santana style latin sounds along with a strong dose of Spanish classical and flamenco music. This CD over the others that I've obtained shows Javier Vargas at his most diverse musical styles.

Excellent studio disc by this superb blues/rock axeslinger from Spain featuring 11 tracks - 57 minutes. Of outstanding, killer, dynamic, retro-70's heavy guitar mojo that includes Special Guest Guitar God Frank Marino rockin' the bloooooze. Javier Vargas is an awesome, blues-based axe ripper whose phat & sassy six string riffage is Highly recommended to fans of Hendrix, Trower, SRV, Santana & Clapton. Javier Vargas is a Spanish blues guitarist. Born in Madrid to Argentine parents who had emigrated to Spain from Buenos Aires, he founded the Vargas Blues Band in 1991, the year they released their first recording, All Around Blues. Since 1992, he has recorded on the Dro-Atlantic (Warner Music Group, Spain) label. He regularly tours Europe and Spain with his band and appeared at the 30th Anniversary Montreux Jazz Festival.
