While credited to Sly & The Family Stone, Different Strokes By Different Folks is actually more of a Sly Stone tribute album, with the "strokes" of Sly being performed by "different folks". It was released on 7 February, 2006.

Presenting his long awaited full-length album, the king of disco re-edits Dr Packer graces Glitterbox Recordings with six brand new mixes alongside twelve of his rare cuts and well-loved treasures. Dr Packer's Different Strokes features Dr Packer versions of soulful house favourites, disco standards and groove-laden floorfillers. Following two DJ mixes from Dr Packer featuring bonus tracks, the album kicks off with a bonafide classic. Dr Packer's take on Soulsearcher's 'Can't Get Enough!' maintains all its most iconic elements, the euphoric vocals and timeless groove given a fresh-sounding elasticity.

There have been many compilations based on tracks sampled by hip-hop producers – such as BGP's Super Breaks series and Virgin's Sampled series – and this one, released through Harmless' Backbeats division, is one of the cheaper and more enjoyable sets. It features not just tracks that have been sampled, but also tracks that remain ripe for use. Russian guitarist and composer Sergei Ivanovich Rudnev was born in 1955 in Tula. In 1975 he graduated in the accordion and balalaika class of Tula’s “Dargomyzhsky” Conservatory, and while attending this school he studied guitar with A. Slavsky and P. Panin in Moscow. On completion of these studies he was transferred to the Garrison Military Orchestra, where he served as an assistant conductor and learned to play the flute, percussion instruments and harmonica and was trained in arranging for pop orchestras.
