In a live setting at the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto, Hary is joined by a dazzling array of musicians who perfectly complement his style, allowing the music to successfully venture all over the world map. Harry Manx built a career putting a unique spin on the blues, serving up his distinctive and hypnotic brew of Eastern and Western sounds to audiences worldwide. Combining the sensuality of traditional blues with transcendent Eastern sounds has become his trademark. It’s in a live setting that this bridge between “heavenly” India and “earthy” American blues is most effectively built. As Harry says, “My goal has always been to draw the audience as deep as possible into the music.”

Not the most conventional of avant-prog acts, Italians NichelOdeon have been a collective, a rather large one incorporating dozens more musicians/singers from all over the globe, since their formation in 1997. Following in the footsteps of their prog forefathers PFM, Goblin et al, their music incorporates a chamber rock element, if not an operatic one in the case of their project leader/composer, 7-octave singer Claudio Milano…

Two decades' worth of music from the mighty Bill Barron – all of it great, no matter what the vintage, and recorded by Swedish Radio in a variety of different formats! Some sides are straight, others are quite experimental – and Barron's given plenty of freedom to try out new ideas here, possibly even more than on some of his studio sets from the time. Settings include a large group from 1966, a 1966 quartet with Jan Wallgren on piano and Rupert Clemendore on drums, and quartets with Lars Sjosten on piano, from the years 1966, 1979, and 1984 – including one date that also features Barron on melodica! The recording quality is great throughout, and the 75 minute package is a real testament to Bill's continuously creative energy over the years – far past the initial moments of brilliance shown by some of his 60s contemporaries.
