Vince Neil's solo debut is a glittering hunk of 1980s hair metal space junk, crash-landed smack dab and smoking in the town square of 1993 alternative city. With crack hired gun Steve Stevens along for the ride, Neil runs through a gloriously anachronistic set of athletic, Motley-lite rockers, thumbing his nose at the flannel and hair grease revolution with his gaggle of strutting Aqua Netted vest guys (pictured on the back cover in full-on preen). It's unclear just what Neil is exposing with this album, since its lyrics mostly just extend the sexual conquests ("You're Invited (But Your Friend Can't Come)") and concurrent never-say-die/gonna-die-young ethos ("Can't Have Your Cake") espoused by his old band. Exposed does wind down a bit after its revved up open, offering the dull "Can't Change Me." While the LP's florescent riffing and histrionic vocal exercises prove Neil isn't lying, "Change" is still a leaden attempt at rebel-on-the-road oath uttering.
Tattoos & Tequila is the third solo studio album by Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil. It is Neil's first solo release in 7 years since the live album Live at the Whisky: One Night Only in 2003 and the first solo studio album in 15 years since 1995's Carved in Stone. It is also his first solo studio album as the current lead singer of Mötley Crüe. The album is largely made up of covers of 1970s rock songs, with only a couple of original tracks thrown in: the title track "Tattoos & Tequila" (written by Marti Frederiksen) which was released as the first single, and "Another Bad Day" (written by Nikki Sixx, James Michael and Tracii Guns). Neil has stated: "This album has nothing to do with Motley Crue, Tattoos and Tequila is basically my life".
Carved in Stone is the second solo album by Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil and was released in 1995. Following this release Vince returned to Mötley Crüe in 1996. Drummer Vik Foxx was also a touring member of Warrant, though not at the same time as Brent Woods. The album charted at #139 on The Billboard 200.
