Symmetry Analysis of Differential Equations with Mathematica®

Symmetry Analysis of Differential Equations with Mathematica® by Gerd Baumann
English | PDF | 2000 | 532 Pages | ISBN : 0387985522 | 61.5 MB

The purpose of this book is to provide the reader with a comprehensive introduction to the applications of symmetry analysis to ordinary and partial differential equations. The theoretical background of physics is illustrated by modem methods of computer algebra. The presentation of the material in the book is based on Mathematica 3.0 note books. The entire printed version of this book is available on the accompanying CD.

Bifurcation in Autonomous and Nonautonomous Differential Equations with Discontinuities (Repost)

Bifurcation in Autonomous and Nonautonomous Differential Equations with Discontinuities By Marat Akhmet, Ardak Kashkynbayev
English | PDF | 2017 | 175 Pages | ISBN : 9811031797 | 4.68 MB

This book focuses on bifurcation theory for autonomous and nonautonomous differential equations with discontinuities of different types – those with jumps present either in the right-hand side, or in trajectories or in the arguments of solutions of equations. The results obtained can be applied to various fields, such as neural networks, brain dynamics, mechanical systems, weather phenomena and population dynamics.

Numerical Solution of Stochastic Differential Equations with Jumps in Finance (Repost)

Numerical Solution of Stochastic Differential Equations with Jumps in Finance by Eckhard Platen
English | PDF | 2010 | 868 Pages | ISBN : 3642120571 | 18 MB

In financial and actuarial modeling and other areas of application, stochastic differential equations with jumps have been employed to describe the dynamics of various state variables. The numerical solution of such equations is more complex than that of those only driven by Wiener processes, described in Kloeden & Platen: Numerical Solution of Stochastic Differential Equations (1992).
Symmetries of Integro-Differential Equations: With Applications in Mechanics and Plasma Physics (Repost)

Symmetries of Integro-Differential Equations: With Applications in Mechanics and Plasma Physics by Yurii N. Grigoriev , Nail H. Ibragimov , Vladimir F. Kovalev , Sergey V. Meleshko
English | PDF | 2010 | 318 Pages | ISBN : 9048137969 | 2.5 MB

This book aims to coherently present applications of group analysis to integro-differential equations in an accessible way. The book will be useful to both physicists and mathematicians interested in general methods to investigate nonlinear problems using symmetries.
Introductory Applications of Partial Differential Equations: With Emphasis on Wave Propagation and Diffusion

Introductory Applications of Partial Differential Equations: With Emphasis on Wave Propagation and Diffusion by G. L. Lamb Jr.
English | PDF | 1995 | 482 Pages | ISBN : 0471311235 | 17.5 MB

This is the ideal text for students and professionals who have some familiarity with partial differential equations, and who now wish to consolidate and expand their knowledge. Unlike most other texts on this topic, it interweaves prior knowledge of mathematics and physics, especially heat conduction and wave motion, into a presentation that demonstrates their interdependence. The result is a superb teaching text that reinforces the reader's understanding of both mathematics and physics. Rather than presenting the mathematics in isolation and out of context, problems in this text are framed to show how partial differential equations can be used to obtain specific information about the physical system being analyzed.

Goals and Emphasis of the Book Mathematicians have begun to find productive ways to incorporate computing power into the mathematics curriculum. There is no attempt here to use computing to avoid doing differential equations and linear algebra. The goal is to make some first ex plorations in the subject accessible to students who have had one year of calculus. Some of the sciences are now using the symbol-manipulative power of Mathemat ica to make more of their subject accessible. This book is one way of doing so for differential equations and linear algebra. I believe that if a student's first exposure to a subject is pleasant and exciting, then that student will seek out ways to continue the study of the subject. The theory of differential equations and of linear algebra permeates the discussion. Every topic is supported by a statement of the theory. But the primary thrust here is obtaining solutions and information about solutions, rather than proving theorems. There are other courses where proving theorems is central. The goals of this text are to establish a solid understanding of the notion of solution, and an appreciation for the confidence that the theory gives during a search for solutions. Later the student can have the same confidence while personally developing the theory.
