Gunilla Törnfeldt was born in 1980 in Stockholm, Sweden, and grew up in a musical family with both parents being classical musicians, composers and music teachers. Singing has always been her natural way of expression, but she also early on began playing the piano and later the cello, even though the acoustic guitar replaced the cello in her twenties. Since she studied at the Adolf Fredrik's Music School and was a member of the famous Adolf Fredrik's Girls Choir, early on she had artistic experience of high level musical performance. The love for jazz came as a revelation in high school and she quickly realized where her heart belonged. She studied jazz voice and jazz methodology at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor in Music and Master of Education in Music.

Truth Serum is a collection of compositions I wrote with no preconceived goal of satisfying or conforming to any particular genre label or template. I just wrote what came to me at the moment. I arranged and performed them with my L.A. band, primarily at the legendary Baked Potato in Los Angeles. I wrote expandable solo sections into each tune so the music could flex depending on the mood and atmosphere on a given night.

Jackson Howard’s music has wonderful freshness to it that offers an upbeat, happy sort of energy, alongside of a genuine and enjoyable leading voice. Just For The Mystery comes across as a folk-pop song with a very real, acoustic ambiance. The brightness and bounce of the music is clear from the offset, and the artist’s voice is laid fairly bare, so you really get that genuine, honest feel from the whole thing. The song develops in a way that adds to the brightness more and more. The instrumentation rises in intensity appropriately; you can feel the energy, as mentioned, and it makes you crave a live performance just to witness it all taking place in real time. The songwriting is strong, the melodies used in the verses and in the hook have a joyful, almost family-film kind of vibe, though in among this particular musical setting the approach is likely to reach out and connect with most of everyone who hears it. A slight Jason Mraz style comes through on occasion, but it’s a brief hint of nostalgia mixed in with a thoroughly original and enjoyable bit of expression.

Legendary singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen died on November 7, 2016, one day before the 2016 Presidential Election, but the world didn’t find out for several days after. On January 24, 2017 (shortly after the inauguration of Donald Trump and the succeeding Women’s March), New York City finally paid tribute to the Poet Prince of Montréal with a concert featuring dozens of singers, songwriters and musicians, including Richard Thompson, Josh Ritter, Will Sheff (Okkervil River), Amy Helm, Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group), Elvis Perkins, Holly Miranda, Joan As Police Woman, Delicate Steve, and many more.

Evolving from drummer and guitarist for other bands to composer and lead vocalist of Benyaro, Ben Musser has always trusted his instincts. He escaped to Jackson Hole, Wyoming from the fray of major music industry hubs that he found were spinning out generic sounds. Musser gleaned inspiration from his new surroundings, and a growing circle of contemporary artist friends, developing an authentic, unique voice.
