Kanon Matsuda was born in the city of Takamatsu, Japan. She started her training at 4 years of age with Professor Yoshiko Hosoda. Beginning in 2002, Kanon was a student of the Gnessin Secondary Special Music School (college), in the class of Professor Elena Ivanova. In March of 2004, Kanon was awarded the Grand Prix at the International Piano Competition in memory of Grieg in Moscow.

In November of 2006, she was the winner and recipient of the Golden Nutcracker in the 7th International Television Competition for Young Musicians The Nutcracker in Moscow. In January of 2007, she appeared before the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexey II at the children’s Christmas party which was organized in the patriarchal residence in the Danilov Monastery.

Kyōhei Sorita is a Japanese classical pianist and conductor. In 2021, he won second prize, ex aequo, at the XVIII International Chopin Piano Competition, the highest prize for a Japanese-born pianist in the competition since Mitsuko Uchida's second prize in 1970.Sorita currently studies under Piotr Paleczny at the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He previously studied with Mikhail Voskresensky at the Moscow Conservatory. He has appeared as soloist with such orchestras as the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, RAI National Symphony Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra, and on an five-city Japanese tour with the Russian National Orchestra. He has recorded for such labels as Denon Records.In 2019, he founded the MLM National Orchestra. Known today as the Japan National Orchestra, it is a 17-member chamber orchestra.

Tchaikovsky wrote over 100 lyric art songs or Romances, a sequence of diaries of the soul that embrace moods from euphoria to despair. They were unusually important to him, and he, or his editors, commissioned piano transcriptions by eminent musicians such as Laub and others, all of which were revised by Tchaikovsky. These poetic and melodically beautiful songs, many of which are here recorded for the first time, include the ravishing None but the Lonely Heart and reveal a ‘new’ body of Tchaikovsky’s piano repertoire.

"Light" is the ideal follow up to Vanessa Benelli Mosells debut album on Decca, "[R]evolution". This new album includes music by Alexander Scriabin as well as by her mentor, Karlheinz Stockhausen, thus putting together two composers both considered visionaries in their respective different historical periods.

Kanon Matsuda, who was encouraged to study in Russia by the teacher, traveled to Moscow with her mother at the age of 6 in 2002 and received the highest marks among those taking the entrance examination for the following school year. She had her first performance with an orchestra at age 8 and has since won a number of awards both in and outside of Russia. She's the first Japanese pianist who publish her album on the Deutsche Grammophon label.
